Scout Rifles are a precise tool for Guardians looking to deal damage at range, and can work well across both PVE and PVP content. Today I want to run down the top 10 scout rifles, looking at both Legendary and Exotic variants, plus I’ll run through how to get them, so you can get the best Scout Rifles in Destiny 2.
Without any delay, let’s dive into the top 10 Scout Rifles in the game.
Glissando-47
Glissando-47 is a Legendary Kinetic Scout Rifle with a Precision Frame meaning this weapon’s recoil pattern is more predictably vertical. The origin trait is Suros Synergy where reloading grants this weapon bonus handling and reduces incoming flinch for a short time.
For PVE
Reconstruction – This weapon slowly reloads itself over time, up to double capacity.
Hatchling – Precision final blows or rapidly defeating targets with a non-precision weapon spawns a Threadling at the target’s location.
You can get this one from Banshee-44 or Xur when they are selling it, plus it can drop from legendary engrams.
Staccato-46
Staccato-46 is a Legendary Energy Scout Rifle is a Precision Frame meaning this weapon’s recoil pattern is more predictably vertical. The Origin trait is Suros Synergy where reloading grants this weapon bonus handling and reduces incoming flinch for a short time.
There’s a couple of good combinations here:
Triple Tap/Incandescent – This roll synergizes perfectly with Solar 3.0 builds in Destiny 2.
Outlaw/Rampage – This is a classic perk combination that works well with a Precision Frame Scout Rifle.
You can get this one from Banshee-44 or Xur when they are selling it, plus it can drop from legendary engrams.
Doom of Chelchis
This is a Legendary Scout Rifle which deals void damage and is well worth getting because this can roll with some unique perk combinations.
For PVE Firefly and Dragonfly would be a good roll. This is a very unique roll which is going to allow many, many explosions when using the weapon.
Firefly – Precision kills with this weapon increase reload speed and cause the target to explode, dealing Solar damage to nearby enemies.
Dragonfly – Precision kills create an elemental damage explosion.
To get this one you are going to need to run the King’s Fall Raid, which is the returning Destiny 1 raid, now in Destiny 2 as part of Season of Plunder. You can access this via the Legends location on the Director. To get Doom of Chelchis this is a potential reward from the first two encounters, The Door and Totems.
Hung Jury SR4
Hung Jury SR4 is a Legendary Kinetic Scout Rifle. This one is a Precision Frame meaning this weapon’s recoil pattern is more predictably vertical.
For PVE Rapid Hit and Firefly is a good roll to look out for and also Surplus and Explosive Payload. For PVP Moving Target and Box Breathing would be a good roll. I am mainly going to be using this in PVE content, so I was looking for Firefly. I managed to get hold of Surplus and Firefly, which isn’t too bad, but the combo of Rapid Hit and Firefly does sound very tempting, but the odds of getting that roll are pretty slim.
You can get this one from Nightfalls when it’s the featured weapon, or Zavala’s Vanguard focusing in the Tower.
Polaris Lance
This is an Exotic Energy Scout Rifle that deals with solar damage. Looking at the perks we have
The Perfect Fifth – Precision hits return ammo to the mag. Landing 4 precision hits loads a delayed solar explosive round for your nxt shot.
Zen Moment – Causing damage with this weapon increases the stability.
The main perk here is The Perfect Fifth, so ideally when you’re playing with this weapon you want to be getting as many precision hits as you can, as you get the benefit of the explosive round for the 5th shot. Next season we have Anti-Barrier Scouts, so this is going to be very useful for Nightfalls and other endgame PVE content.
You can get this from the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower.
Dead Man’s Tale
Dead Man’s Tale is an Exotic Kinetic Scout Rifle. Checking out the perks we have:
Cranial Spike – Chaining precision hits grants bonus damage and quickens reload speed.
This one can be crafted by getting the pattern from the Presage mission, which can be found in the Exotic Mission Rotator in the Legends tab via the Director. It’s a great feeling weapon, plus it sounds great too.
Randy’s Throwing Knife
Randy’s Throwing Knife is a Legendary Kinetic Scout Rifle with a Rapid-Fire Frame meaning it fires full auto with deeper ammo reserves. Faster reload when weapon is empty. This one has the Origin Trait One Quiet Moment which grants increased reload speed when out of combat.
For PVE Offhand Strike and Kinetic Tremors would be good.
Offhand Strike – Final blows grant additional weapon range, stability, and accuracy when firing from the hip for a short duration.
Kinetic Tremors – Sustained kinetic damage to a target emits a shockwave that damages any nearby targets.
You can get this one as a cruicble drop, or from Lord Shaxx focusing options by speaking to him in the tower.
Brya’s Love
Brya’s Love is a Legendary Energy Scout Rifle with a Precision Frame meaning this weapon’s recoil pattern is more predictably vertical. The origin trait here is Head Rush, this is where standing up after crouching for a short time grants this weapon a brief period of improved handling and reload speed.
For PVP Keep Away, Explosive Payload would be good.
Keep Away – Increases reload, range, and accuracy when no targets are in close proximity.
Explosive Payload – Projectiles create an area-of-effect detonation on impact.
To get this Scout Rifle you have to take part in the Season of the Witch activities called Savathun’s Spire or Altars of Summoning. You can also focus engrams at the Ritual Table found in the H.E.L.M. plus if you collect 5 red borders of the weapon and extract the deepsight, then you’ll get the weapon pattern, meaning you can craft the weapon at the Enclave on Savathun’s Throne World.
Mida Multi-tool
Mida Multi-tool is an Exotic Kinetic Scout Rifle. This comes with MIDA Multi-Tool, This weapon boosts move speed and MIDA Radar, Radar stays active while aiming down sights. You can get this one from the Exotic Kiosk in the Tower under Red War Exotics.
Jade Rabbit
Jade Rabbit is an Exotic Kinetic Scout Rifle. This comes with the perk The Fate of All Fools where chain body shots to gain bonus damage on your next precision shot and return ammo to the magazine. Plus Zen Moment was causing damage with this weapon increases its stability. You can get this from random exotic engram drops or from Xur when he’s selling it.
