Marathon Guide – How to Get Free Loadouts with Sponsored Kits

In Marathon, an extraction shooter, losing gear is routine. Sometimes you leave with great loot; other times, you lose everything in a tough fight or ambush. Sponsored Kits help solve this problem.

Sponsored Kits help you re-enter the action smoothly, without needing to use or replace your own gear. These kits include weapons, shields, and supplies, allowing quick deployment and keeping you competitive.

In this guide, we’ll explain what Sponsored Kits are, how to get them, and how to use them well.

What Sponsored Kits Are

Sponsored Kits are pre-made loadouts from factions that let you start a run without using your own gear. They work like a quick deployment system. Instead of building a kit from your vault, you can equip a Sponsored Kit and get a full loadout right away, including:

  • Weapons
  • Armour or shields
  • Medical supplies
  • Utility items
  • Backpack space

Even if you lose everything, you can rejoin with a complete loadout. Kits come in different tiers, and gear quality varies by kit.

How to Get Sponsored Kits

Getting Sponsored Kits is easy. Just go to your Loadout screen and open the Armoury section. You’ll see up to three Sponsored Kits available each day:

  • One free kit
  • Two paid kits

Kits update daily, so weapons, gear, and prices rotate.

The free Sponsored Kit acts as a basic safety net. It usually includes:

  • A grey rarity weapon
  • Minimal medical supplies
  • Very limited utility

It gets you started, but you’ll need more loot to survive longer fights.

The paid Kits are better, offering green- or higher-rarity weapons, stronger shields, more meds, utility gear, and extra backpack space.

For serious runs, these kits offer a stronger start.

Sponsored Kits and Faction Reputation

Many paid Sponsored Kits provide extra faction reputation when you successfully finish a run. This helps you level factions, unlock gear, and progress contracts.

Besides looting, use Sponsored Kits for faction progression. If you want to advance, use Sponsored Kits often.

How to Use Sponsored Kits

Equipping a Sponsored Kit instantly replaces your current loadout—your old gear moves to your Vault.

After this, only Sponsored Kit items stay equipped, making quick runs easy without sorting inventory.

Sponsored Kits have a few simple rules.

First, you can’t modify kits—the contents are locked before deployment.

If you don’t want the kit, move its gear to the vault and clear your loadout.

If you equip one by mistake, it takes time to restore your old gear. Use Sponsored Kits only when ready.

Sponsored Kits vs Rook Runs

Players compare Sponsored Kits to Rook runs, since both let you play without risking main gear. But Sponsored Kits offer unique benefits.

Unlike Rook runs:

  • You can play solo
  • You can complete contracts
  • You can progress faction reputation

Rook runs are chaotic and focused on grabbing loot. Sponsored Kits enable real deployments with supplied gear and progress. They’re ideal for low-risk runs that boost your character.

When You Should Use Sponsored Kits

Sponsored Kits are especially useful at certain times.

They’re great if you need a reset after losing everything, want to preserve top gear, farm reputation, or do a quick solo run.

They’re also good for warming up before risking your best gear.

Sponsored Kits let you play Marathon without constantly rebuilding loadouts. Gear up fast, run missions, and progress after setbacks. Used well, they protect your vault, speed up faction progress, and keep you competitive.
