Introduced in the Renegades DLC, Zealous Ideal is a Solar Heat Auto Rifle earned from the Equilibrium Dungeon. Packed with strong Solar-synergy perks and a unique heat-based firing mechanic, it’s a weapon worth pursuing. Today I’m going to check out the Zealous Ideal perks, god rolls, why it’s good and also how to get it in Destiny 2.
How to Get Zealous Ideal
Zealous Ideal can drop from both the first and final encounters of the Equilibrium Dungeon. If you’re farming for rolls, these two encounters are your repeatable sources.
How Good Is Zealous Ideal?
Zealous Ideal is built on the Precision Auto Rifle archetype—an archetype that isn’t especially dominant right now. However, its identity as a heat weapon gives it a major advantage: it can fire significantly longer before overheating. This helps compensate for the archetype’s weaker damage profile and allows it to keep up with, or even surpass, some Adaptive and Rapid-Fire Autos in practical use.
In PvP, the weapon has the stats and perk options to be competitive, but the archetype underperforms in the current meta. A future buff to Precision Autos would instantly elevate Zealous Ideal as a top pick.
PvE God Roll — Zealous Ideal
Barrel: Fluted Barrel
Magazine: Overclocked Heatsink
Perk 1: Heal Clip
Perk 2: Incandescent
Masterwork: Cooling Efficiency
Origin Trait: Imperial Allegiance
This setup focuses on boosting handling and stability through Fluted Barrel, while Overclocked Heatsink squeezes out a bit more damage. A Cooling Efficiency masterwork mitigates heat buildup, keeping the weapon comfortable to use.
For the first column, both Heal Clip and Attrition Orbs are excellent, but Heal Clip stands out—activating healing as soon as you begin venting, not after the animation completes. In Perk 2, Incandescent is the clear standout for Solar builds, though Onslaught brings raw DPS through a rapid-fire feel. Burning Ambition is also a strong alternative Solar option.
PvP God Roll — Zealous Ideal
Barrel: Chambered Compensator
Magazine: Projection Fuse
Perk 1: Dynamic Sway Reduction
Perk 2: Onslaught
Masterwork: Range
Origin Trait: Imperial Allegiance
Compared to most Precision Autos, Zealous Ideal boasts strong overall stats. Handling is its weakest point, but not enough to warrant heavy investment, so we instead lean into range, stability, and recoil control.
Perk 1 is exceptionally stacked: Dynamic Sway Reduction, Zen Moment, and the new Delicate Tuning, which grants boosts to range, handling, and accuracy while the weapon is at low heat—perfect for winning opening duels.
Perk 2 is less PvP-focused, but Tap the Trigger and Onslaught have proven historically powerful on Precision Autos and remain reliable options here.
