How to get the Thorn catalyst in Destiny 2

Thorn’s catalyst has arrived in Destiny 2, which makes an already powerful hand cannon one of the best weapons in the game. Today I’m going to run through how to get the Thorn catalyst, plus how to power it up nice and quickly so you can benefit from the brand new, all powerful Thorn in Destiny 2.

How to get the Thorn Catalyst

You’ll need Thorn to get the catalyst, which is nice and easy, you can pick it up from the Monuments to Lost Lights in the Tower under Forsaken Exotics. Then, you’ll want to play vanguard ops, crucible or gambit and it’s a random drop from the end of matches. It shouldn’t take long for you to get it.

How to level up the Thorn Catalyst

Once you have the Thorn Catalyst, slot it onto the weapon, and then you’ll need to get kills with it. The easiest and fastest place to do this is the Shuro Chi checkpoint in the Last Wish Raid. I’ve put the path at the end of the video, and you’ll want to enter this code.

What the Thorn Catalyst does

  • In PVE, picking up a remnant can overflow the magazine, with up to 40 rounds.
  • In PVP the catalyst will give you +20 range and +10 to stability. Plus you’ll get additional range, mobility and handling when you pick up remnants in PVP.

This catalyst is going to be very popular, so I would imagine you’ll going to see a lot of it in crucible this season. Good luck getting that catalyst to drop.

Thorn

Thorn is an Exotic Kinetic Hand Cannon with some excellent exotic perks including.

Mark of the Devourer – Rounds pierce targets and deal damage over time. Kills with this weapon leave behind Remnants.

Soul Devourer – Absorbing a Remnant strengthens Mark of the Devourer and partially refills the magazine.

Looking at the stats we have Impact 84, Range 41, Stability 60, Handling 68, Reload Speed 46, Rounds Per Minute 140, Magazine 11.

Next, let’s have a look at how to get Thorn.

How to get Thorn

To get Thorn you can buy this from the Tower from the Exotic Kiosk in the Tower, which you can find next to the Vault and it’s called Monument to Lost Lights. At the time of making the guide you do require the Forsaken Expasion to be able to buy this, and all the exotics from Forsaken.

Necrotic Grip

One of the best features in the game right now is the synergy Thorn has with Necrotic Grip, Exotic Gauntlets for the Warlock. Thorn triggers the Necrotic Grip’s poison if you kill an enemy with it (or land the final blow). As well as triggering the Necrotic Grips poison, you get the benefits from Thorn too. You can get Necrotic Grip if you are a Warlock and run Legend or Master Lost Sectors on arms day. I have a full guide on that, which you can find on the channel by searching for ‘Necrotic Grip thorn’.

Let me know in the comments what you think.
