Pre Astyanax IV

How to get Pre Astyanax IV (Legendary Bow) plus god roll guide in Destiny 2

Pre Astyanax IV is a nightfall exclusive weapon added to Destiny 2 as part of Season of the Witch. This is an excellent bow with some deadly perks, which is great for both PVE and PVP. Today I want to take a closer look at the weapon, the stats, perks, god rolls to chase for PVP and PVE, plus how to get the Pre Astyanax IV in Destiny 2.

How to get Pre Astyanax IV

This bow is an exclusive nightfall reward, meaning you have to run nightfalls and defeat the final boss. The higher the nightfall difficulty, the more likely you are to get the weapon. I would start with Legend Nightfalls, or higher (e.g. Master and Grandmaster). In my experience Hero Nightfalls aren’t worth doing, but legend are a good balance of difficulty and reward drops.

It’s worth noting Nightfalls have a rotating reward drop, so each week we have a featured weapon and they are on a 6 week rotation. At the time of publishing this guide the Pre Astyanax IV is available, and I do an update every tuesday letting you know which nightfall weapon is featured, so make sure you’re subscribed to get that update each week.

Pre Astyanax IV

Pre Astyanax IV is a Legendary Energy Combat Bow with a Precision Frame. It’s a Compound Bow meaning longer draw time optimized for damage.

Looking at the stats we have Impact 76, Accuracy 65, Stability 40, Handling 50, Reload Speed 40, Airborne Effectiveness 17, and Draw Time 684.

We have a selection of Origin Traits for this one:

Stunning Recovery – Stunning a Champion partially refills your magazine, triggers health regeneration, and improves recovery for a short duration.

Vanguard’s Vindication – Final blows with this weapon grant a small amount of health.

Wild Card – Final blows with this weapon have a chance to create experimental submunitions at the target’s location.

Pre Astyanax IV God Roll Guide

For PVP Elastic String, Compact Arrow Shaft, Archer’s Tempo and Successful Warm-Up would be good.

  • Elastic String – Excellent snapback, decreases accuracy, faster draw time, slightly increases handling speed
  • Compact Arrow Shaft – Increases handling speed, Increases reload speed
  • Archer’s Tempo – Draw time decreases after every precision hit.
  • Successful Warm-Up – Each final blow increases charge/draw speed.

For PVE Elastic String, Compact Arrow Shaft, Archer’s Tempo, Incandescent would be good.

  • Elastic String – Excellent snapback, decreases accuracy, faster draw time, slightly increases handling speed
  • Compact Arrow Shaft – Increases handling speed, Increases reload speed
  • Archer’s Tempo – Draw time decreases after every precision hit.
  • Incandescent – Defeating a target spreads scorch to those nearby. More powerful combatants and opposing Guardians cause scorch in a larger radius.

Let me know in the comments what you think about the Pre Astyanax IV and let me know your top rolls.
