How to get Midnight Coup (Legendary Hand Cannon) plus god roll guide in Destiny 2

Midnight Coup is one of the most famous weapons in Destiny 2, originally part of the OG Destiny 2 Leviathan raid, but it’s been returned to us via Into the Light. Back then we had static rolls, and now this has returned with random rolls, so it’s going to be exciting to see what we can get on this epic hand cannon. Today I’m going to check out the weapon, the stats, perks, god rolls for PVE and PVP, plus how to get Midnight Coup in Destiny 2.

How to get Midnight Coup

To get this one you’ll want to take part in the Onslaught activity, and Midnight Coup is a random drop from the activity after wave 10, 20, 30 etc.

Additionally, you can increase the chances of a specific gun dropping by 50% by activating Weapon’s Attunement in the Hall of Champions, which features holographic statues of Lord Shaxx. To access attunement, you’ll need to complete the quest from Arcite, the vendor standing to the right of Shaxx in the Hall of Heroes.

When completing this quest you’ll get a limited edition version of Midnight Coup, with a curated roll. If you want additional rolls, then activate attunement after the quest is complete and you’ll be able to attune drops of Midnight Coup, making it 50% more likely for the weapon to drop from Onslaught and the chest to the left of Lord Shaxx.

Midnight Coup

Midnight Coup is a Legendary Kinetic Hand Cannon meaning it’s an Adaptive Frame which has a well-rounded grip, reliable and sturdy. Looking at the stats we have Impact 84, Range 40, Stability 45, Handling 60, Reload Speed 56, Airborne Effectiveness 24, Recoil 80, Rounds Per Minute 140, and Magazine 12.

The origin trait here is Indomitability where final blows grant grenade energy when playing a Light subclass or melee energy when playing a Darkness subclass.

Midnight Coup god roll guide

For PVE Firefly and Kinetic Tremors would be good.

  • Firefly – Precision kills with this weapon increase reload speed and cause the target to explode, dealing Solar damage to nearby enemies.
  • Kinetic Tremors – Sustained kinetic damage to a target emits a shockwave that damages any nearby targets.

Shoot to Loot and Frenzy is also a good combination

  • Shoot to Loot – Shooting an Orb of Power picks it up. Shooting an ammo brick picks it up and automatically reloads all of your equipped weapons from reserves.
  • Frenzy – Being in combat for an extended time increases damage, handling, and reload for this weapon until you are out of combat.

For PVP Moving Target and Zen Moment would be good.

  • Moving Target – Increased movement speed and target acquisition when moving while aiming down sights.
  • Zen Moment – Causing damage with this weapon reduces recoil and flinch over time.

Moving Target and Opening Shot is also good.

  • Opening Shot – Improved accuracy and range on the opening shot of attack.

Let me know in the comments what you think of the returning Midnight Coup.
