How to get Breakneck (Legendary Auto Rifle) in Destiny 2

Breakneck has returned to Destiny 2. This is a former pinnacle weapon, and it’s been brought up to modern standards in Season of the Wish. Today I’m going to go through the stats, perks, god rolls to chase for PVE and PVP, plus how to get Breakneck in Destiny 2.

How to get Breakneck

To get Breakneck you’ll want to play Gambit matches, and it’s a random drop from the end of matches, plus you can focus your Gambit engrams at Drifter in the Tower. You will need to have the weapon drop for you before you can focus it. For each Gambit reset you’ll unlock a new perk in columns 3 and 4, and you’ll unlock up to 3 perks in each column.

Breakneck

Breakneck is a Legendary Kinetic Auto Rifle with a Precision Frame meaning this weapon’s recoil pattern is more predictably vertical. Looking at the stats we have Impact 29, Range 64, Stability 45, Handling 37, Reload Speed 46, Airborne Effectiveness 10, Rounds Per Minute 450, and Magazine 34. The origin trait for this one is called Gun and Run. Rapidly defeating targets with this weapon grants bonus sprint speed. Guardians, powerful combatants, and high-value targets grant this bonus quicker.

It’s not quite the monster is was before, given it doesn’t have the Rampage/Onslaught combination that made it very famous, but it’s got a great perk pool, meaning it can still do some incredible damage. Personally, I’m more likely to use autos in PVE content rather than PVP, where pulse rifles and hand cannons tend to do the most damage.

Breakneck god roll

For PVE Arrowhead Break, Ricochet Rounds, Subsistence, Onslaught with a Range masterwork would be good.

  • Arrowhead Break – Greatly controls recoil, Increases handling speed
  • Ricochet Rounds – Increases stability, Slightly increases range
  • Subsistence – Defeating targets partially reloads the magazine from reserves.
  • Onslaught – Final blows with this weapon increase its rate of fire.
  • Range masterwork

Subsistence and Onslaught is the combination you’ll want for PVE content. While it’s not quite as good as the Rampage and Onslaught combination, it’s a decent replacement. It allows you to run around PVE content without the need to reload very much, which also allows Onslaught to have a high uptime.

For PVP Corkscrew Rifling, Armor Piercing Rounds, Dynamic Sway Reduction, Onslaught and Range masterwork.

  • Corkscrew Rifling – Slightly increases range and stability, slightly increases handling speed
  • Armor Piercing Rounds – Slightly increases range
  • Dynamic Sway Reduction – Improves accuracy and stability while continuously holding down the trigger.
  • Onslaught – Final blows with this weapon increase its rate of fire.
  • Range masterwork

Let me know in the comments what you think of Breakneck.
