Helldivers 2 News – Vehicles and new weapons leak

Several new weapons and a new Halo style vehicle have leaked online ahead of release. Arrowhead studios are expected to reveal their roadmap in the coming days for future content additions to Helldivers 2, but it appears that some players have seen testing of this new equipment in-game. Today I’m going to cover everything we know about these leaks, and plus also we have other news including recent patch notes, sales numbers, more new features and fake steam listings in Helldivers 2.

If you like this video then subscirbe for more Helldivers 2 content, plus hit the notifications to never miss an update.

Vehicles, mechs and new weapons

Youtuber GameOverDeo recently covered the leaks in great detail over on their channel. We have confirmation of a pilotable mech, which confirms other recent leaks. The mech comes equipped with a heavy machine gun and a missle launcher, so this is going to be a powerful new stratagem when it’s added to the main game.

An armoured vehicle is also coming, which is giving off Warthog vibes from the Halo series. You can have a driver, a passenger who can shoot their secondary one-handed weapon from the passenger seat, plus someone on the back who can man the machine gun.

We also have a bunch of new weapons coming including

Arc-12 Blitzer shotgun
SG-8P Punisher Plasma shotgun
CB-9 Explosive Crossbow
R-36 Erupter battle rifle
BX-7 Displacer Pack backpack item
B-1 Supply Pack backpack item

Arc-12 Blitzer shotgun – This is a wide burst shotgun that fires bolts of electricity that arcs between multiple enemies

SG-8P Punisher Plasma shotgun – This fires powerful explosive plasma rounds. Sounds like you have to be careful with this one as it can severely injure teammates.

CB-9 Explosive Crossbow and R-36 Erupter battle rifle are two other powerful weapons coming to Helldivers 2 very soon.

BX-7 Displacer Pack backpack – This allows Helldivers to teleport back to safety if a fatal blow is incoming.

B-1 Supply Pack backpack – This allows players to replensih their ammo on the battlefield

Johan Pilestedt, Arrowhead Game Studios CEO has also teased colour customisation features potentially coming to Helldivers 2 very soon, although this feature appears to be in th eearly discussion phase.

New update

Patch 1.000.13 is available for download and details several fixes to the game. This includes fixing a bug which allowed some players to use unlimited Stratagems in-game, as well as a bug with Super Credits not appearing after being purchased.

There are a few known issues, with player disconnects being high on the priority list for Arrowhead Studios to fix. Also some players have been having diffculties connecting to other games during high traffic times. Personally, I haven’t come into contact with this one, but let me know if you’ve still been experiencing issues.

Helldivers 2 sales surging

Helldivers 2 has sold approximately 3 million copies. It managed to sell 1 million copies in 72 hours after launch on PC and PS5 and the game has been growing in popularity ever since, this was confirmed on Twitter by Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt.

Pilestedt went on to confirm the “near 3 million sales” on Twitter in a conversation with fans, which is a huge milestone to reach in 3 weeks. Helldivers 2 has been outperforming both Call of Duty and Fortnite on PS5, whilst reaching the Steam Top Sellers chart.

While the game has been wildly successful, this has put pressure on the servers, with the first two weeks plagued by signing-in issues for players. This appears to have eased this past weekend, with player caps raised due to increased server capacity and queue times dropping to being almost non-existant. The server issues did have some fallout with player reviews changing from “very positive” to “mixed” on Steam.

Helldivers 2 has pulled off something unique in the UK sales charts as it surged with 20% growth in sales in it’s 3rd week. It’s the second consecutive week that Helldivers 2 saw growth in sales, which is quite rare. Word of mouth has been super strong with Helldivers 2 with the game releasing to little fanfare, followed by a rapid rise in popularity due to the sheer amount of fun you can have in the game, plus it’s been backed by a large amount of content creators and Tiktok timelines have been taken over by Helldivers 2 memes, guides and montages.

Arrowhead Studios tease customisation feature

Johan Pilestedt, Arrowhead Game Studios CEO, has confirmed in Twitter the studio are looking into potential colour change customisation features in the future. Pilestedt has been vocal on Twitter since the game’s launch and he’s been having open conversations with fans on social media. He discussed armor and cape colour customisation, and says the studio are aware of the highly requested feature from fans.

Helldivers 2 does allow for armor customisation through the Warbonds Acquisition Center, which can be accessed by players for free spending medals, or through the Super Store with Super Credits. However, current armor sets cannot be customised from their default appearance.

Fake Steam listings

This one comes from Wesley Yin-Poole from IGN. Valve has pulled a handful of fake Steam listings for Helldivers 2 that were different games disguised as the hugely popular co-op shooter to fool people into spending money.

Helldivers 2 community manager Twinbeard posted a warning on the game’s Discord that shone a light on the scam.

“There are unfortunately two (three now?!) fake games being marketed as Helldivers 2 on Steam at the moment,” Twinbeard said. “THESE ARE FAKE. They are not made by Arrowhead but they claim to be. We do not know what they contain, but they are not affiliated with us in any way.

“Our legal department is on it and we hope Valve will remove the products as soon as possible.

“The only two genuine copies are Helldivers 2 and Helldivers 2: Super Citizen Edition. BOTH OF OUR GENUINE GAMES WERE RELEASED FEBRUARY 8TH. All remaining Helldivers 2 games are fake.

“People posting as us trying to scam people is obviously very sad and frustrating, and for that as well as for security reasons we urge you to stay clear of them. Again, the only two Helldivers 2 products we market are Helldivers 2 and Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition. (I haven’t had time to check the details on the fake store pages yet since I just got up.)

“Additional information will follow if or when there is any new information.”

Thankfully, Valve has now pulled the fake Helldivers 2 listings, per an update this morning from Twinbeard: “All fake store pages now seem to have been taken down by Valve, who acted very swiftly after we reached out. We´ll assess everything in due time. Also, a big THANK YOU to everyone who DM:ed or pinged me/us about the fake pages and games. Together we stand.”

While Valve moved quickly to stamp out the scam Helldivers 2 pages, it appears the problem is not isolated to Arrowhead’s shooter. Palworld community chief Bucky tweeted to say there had been a “wave” of fake games that suddenly appeared on Steam today, a development they called “quite concerning.” According to Bucky, Steam took down a fake Palworld listing almost immediately after developer Pocketpair got in touch. “Hope no one was tricked into buying it!” Bucky said.

Valve is now facing questions over how these listings were able to make it onto Steam in the first place. The hope is of course that the high-profile nature of the fake Helldivers 2 Steam listings will cause Valve to close whatever loophole was exploited here.

Meanwhile, there’s plenty to be getting on with in the world of Helldivers 2, including the ongoing galactic war against the bugs and bots. As revealed this week, Arrowhead employs a “game master” who runs the Helldivers 2 campaign like a D&D dungeon master. Gameplay leaks have offered fans a closer look at the upcoming mechs, too.

Let me know in the comments what you think.
