Now is the best time for new players to jump into Destiny 2, or if you are a recent player, it’s a great chance to catch up on content and loot you’ve missed. Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, Witch Queen campaigns are free for all players, plus all Lightfall seasons are free too. Today I’m going to run through the content that’s available for everybody, and most importantly the best loot to get while it’s available to you, in Destiny 2.
To kick things off, let’s have a look at the press release from Bungie:
“Today through June 3, access to Destiny 2 expansions Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen, are available to all players. PlayStation Plus members also get access to the most recent Lightfall expansion. Throughout these expansions, players have the chance to wield the Darkness subclasses Stasis and Strand, participate in three extra raids released during these campaigns, unlock new exotic weapons and gear, and more.
In addition to the expansions, all Seasonal content from Lightfall is available to all players through June 3, which includes: Season of Defiance, Season of the Deep, Season of the Witch, and Season of the Wish. All Guardians who play through these expansions and Seasons will be able to keep their earned weapons and gear.”
For new and recent players, this is huge. This allows you to go through the campaigns for Shadowkeep, Beyond Light and Witch Queen, plus catch up on the story all throughout the Lightfall year, that’s the last 4 seasons (including the current Season of the Wish). Also, if you are a PlayStation player then you can get Lightfall for no additional cost through PlayStation Plus.
The best campaign of them all is Witch Queen, this involves battling against Savathun and her Lucetn Hive. Shadowkeep is probably the weakest campaign, and Beyond Light is a little better. This also means you’ll be able to play all the raids associated with these expansions including Garden of Salvation, The Deep Stone Crypt, and Vow of the Disciple.
The best thing about this is the loot is going to be available for all players, plus you can keep the loot once the offer stops on June 3rd. We have some great Exotics and Legendary items available.
If you are a new player, it’s worth going to the Hall of Champions, found in the Into The Light node and pick up the weapons and armor found in there to quickly level yourself up, then take on the campaigns, and then go after some exotic loot.
Here’s some of the best Exotics to look out for
Shadowkeep
Witherhoard (Grenade Launcher)
This is a very useful grenade launcher, very unique and allows for good add clear plus area control in PVP. Pick this one up from the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower.
Xenophage (Machine Gun)
This is a unique machine gun that fires a single concentrated shot, notorious in Gambit, although good in PVE too. Complete the Shadowkeep campaign and pick up the quest The Journey, and complete that.
Divinity (Raid Trace Rifle)
This is a must have weapon, great for boss DPS. You can get this exotic from a quest in the Garden of Salvation Raid.
Assassin’s Cowl (Hunter)
This is one of the best Hunter Exotic armor pieces and good across a range of subclasses.
Vanishing Execution – Powered melee final blows grant invisibility and restore a portion of health and shields. Finishers and final blows against more powerful targets increase the duration of the invisibility and the amount of health and shields restored.
Complete the Shadowkeep campaign as a Hunter.
Phoenix Cradle (Titan)
This is a great exotic for Solar Titans.
Beacons of Empowerment – Sol Invictus lasts twice as long. Allies who pass through your Sunspot are granted Sol Invictus and Solar restoration.
Complete the Shadowkeep campaign as a Titan.
Beyond Light
Ticcu’s Divination (Bow)
Fantastic solar bow with tracking capabilities. Pick this one up from the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower.
Ager’s Scepter (Trace Rifle)
This is a must have for Stasis Guardians. Pick this one up from the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower.
Cloud Strike (Sniper)
This is a great Sniper, that brings down lighting on precision kills. Made famous by CoolGuy, check out his videos with Cloudstrike. This is a random drop from Empire Hunts after the Beyond Light campaign.
No Time To Explain (Pulse Rifle)
This is a meanace in PVP. Complete the Beyond Light campaign.
Necrotic Grip (Warlock)
The best exotic for warlocks, works great with Thorn and Osteo Striga. Create your own poison subclass before Bungie do. Lost sectors on arms day as a Warlock.
Mask of Bakris (Hunter)
Great for Hunters.
Light Shift – Replaces your Stasis subclass Dodge ability with a longer range, faster moving shift that partially cloaks you during use. After shifting, your Stasis and Arc weapons deal increased damage for a short time.
Lost sectors on helmet day as a Hunter
Icefall Mantle (Titan)
Great Titan exotic with the overshield.
Glacial Guard – Stasis final blows have a chance to grant an escalating bonus to Stasis weapon damage. Replaces your Barricade ability with a personal overshield. When you activate your Barricade, you gain the highest-tier Stasis weapon damage bonus and create a burst around yourself that slows combatants. While you have this overshield, you are slowed and Barricade does not recharge.
Lost sectors on arms day as a Titan.
Witch Queen
Collective Obligation (Raid Pulse Rifle)
Fantastic void pulse rifle that works well with the void keywords. Perfect for void builds. Complete the Vow of the Disciple Raid and it’s a random drop from the final boss.
Osteo Striga (Submachine Gun)
This exotic has tracking and works great with Necrotic Grips for Warlocks, although it’s great for all classes. Complete the Witch Queen Campaign and then craft it.
Loreley Splendor (Titan)
Could once make you indesctructable, since nerfed, but still very good for Solar Titans. Lost sectors on helmet day as a Titan.
Osmiomancy Gauntlets (Warlock)
Simply the best Stasis exotic across all classes.
Lost sectors on arms day as a Warlock. This is a must have for Stasis Warlocks.
Renewal Grasps (Hunter)
Lost sectors on arms day as a Hunter.
Thats it for my loot recommendations, let me know in the comments if I have missed anything. For new and recent players, go in there, enjoy the campaign content, grab some great exotics, plus don’t forget the BRAVE arsenal right now for Into The Light – loads of great weapons in there, plus the starter kit for weapons and armor to bring you up to 1810.
