Warlock buddies have been buffed in Ash & Iron, which means you can easily jolt everything and cause major damage with the combination of Getaway Artist, Arc grenades and Hellion. Today I’m going to showcase the build, tell you why it’s good, plus we’re going to put the build together in Destiny 2.
Why this build is good
Bungie recently updated the sandbox in update 9.1.5. They have buffed Warlock grenades and buddies in a big way, making all Warlock’s feel super powerful once again.
Here’s one of the changes: The following Warlock constructs now count as grenades for stats and perks: Ionic Sentry, Arc Soul, Hellion, Bleak Watcher, Child of the Old Gods.
In this build today we’re going to use a combination of these – Arc Soul and Hellion. Getaway Artist is going to provide the Arc Soul and Hellion is going to be used as one of our fragments.
There are 2 essential ingredients to the build.
- Getaway Artist Warlock Gauntlets
- Pristmatic subclass with Facet of Dominance, Arc Grenades and Hellion.
Facet of Dominance is key as Arc grenade ability energy applies Jolt. Given the changes in update 9.1.5 where “following Warlock constructs now count as grenades for stats and perks”, that means these simple aspects, fragments and exotic weapon combinations are now super powerful.
This Prismatic Warlock build is powerful because it creates a seamless loop of offense, defense, and ability regeneration across all elements. Getaway Artist’s Arc Soul keeps you constantly Amplified while dishing out autonomous damage, Feed the Void grants Devour for endless healing and grenade uptime, and Hellion adds Solar scorch and crowd control from afar. Combined with fast class ability regeneration, constant Orb generation, and high weapon synergy — especially with Gjallarhorn and Solar surges — this setup makes you nearly unkillable, constantly buffed, and capable of melting enemies in every range or activity.
Gameplay loop
- Consume your grenade and let your arc buddy destroy everything.
- Use your class ability and let Hellion clean up anything your arc buddy hasn’t killed
The gameplay loop for this build revolves around constant ability use and self-sustain. You start by activating Getaway Artist to turn your grenade into an Arc Soul, instantly becoming Amplified. As you fight, the Arc Soul and your abilities — like Storm Grenade, Arcane Needle, and Hellion’s Solar mortar — rapidly build kills that trigger Feed the Void, granting Devour for instant healing and grenade energy. You’ll then chain grenades and melee attacks to keep Devour active indefinitely. Use Phoenix Dive whenever your class ability is charged to heal, collect Orbs with Powerful Attraction, and refresh your cooldowns through Distribution. This creates a tight, looping cycle: abilities feed Devour, Devour fuels abilities, and your Orbs and buffs keep you in a constant state of amplified power, healing, and destruction.

Exotic Armor
Getaway Artist
This comes with ‘Dynamic Duo’. Convert your Arc grenade into a Arc Soul and become amplified. The Arc Soul functions as an autonomous turret. Get this from Master Rahool in the Tower.
Prismatic Subclass
Super – Nova Bomb, Hurl an explosive bolt of Void Light at a target, disintegrating those caught within its blast. Nova Bomb travels slowly and seeks targets. Detonations shatter into smaller seeker projectiles.
Class Ability – Phoenix Dive, Dive to the ground and create a burst of Solar Light that cures nearby allies.
Melee – Arcane Needle, Sling a woven needle that will embed in your target, unraveling them. Activate your melee ability again to chain up to two additional attacks.
Grenade – Storm Grenade, A grenade that calls down a focused lightning storm. This is going to jolt targets.
Aspects
Feed the Void – Defeat a target with any ability to activate Devour. This gives us a good amount of health, plus an almost infinite stream of grenades.
Hellion – Activate your class ability to summon a [Solar] Solar mortar that lobs flaming projectiles at distant targets. Targets damaged by the mortar are scorched. Hellion damage is scaled by the enhanced benefit of the Grenade stat.
Fragments
Facet of Dominance – Arc grenade ability damage applies Jolt.
Facet of Hope – While you have an elemental buff, your class ability regenerates more quickly.
Facet of Courage – Your Arc, Solar, and Void abilities deal increased damage to targets afflicted with Darkness debuffs.
Facet of Protection – While surrounded by combatants, you are more resistant to incoming damage. While transcendent, the effect is increased. This is going to help us stay alive.
Weapons
Primary – Mint Retrograde
Mint Retrograde is a Legendary Kinetic Pulse Rifle with a Rocket-Assisted Frame meaning the weapon fires self-propelled rocket ammunition. Projectiles explode on impact for high damage.
To get Mint Retrograde you’ll want to run Pinnacle Ops, and you can find Pinnacles Ops via The Portal. Mint Retrograde is part of the rewards pool for Pinnacle Ops, and it’s a random drop throughout the activity, plus once you defeat the final boss.
Energy – MIDA Mini Tool
MIDA Mini-Tool is a Legendary Energy Submachine Gun that comes with MIDA Synergy that means superb handling. Move faster with this weapon equipped. When MIDA Multi-Tool is equipped, this weapon grants additional speed benefits and final blows grant modification progress to MIDA Multi-Tool.
Heavy – Gjallarhorn
Gjallarhorn is an Exotic Power Rocket Launcher that fires solar damage and it comes with some pretty special perks
Wolfpack Rounds – Rounds fired split into tracking cluster missiles upon detonation.
Pack Hunter – Gain increased handling and reload speed when standing near allies. Firing this weapon also grants Wolfpack Rounds to nearby allies wielding non-Exotic Rocket Launchers.
