Sinister Cloth is a High Rank material and you’ll need it to get the Death Stench armor. Sinister Cloth can be quite rare, so today I’m going to run through a quick guide for how to get Sinister Cloth in Monster Hunter Wilds.
How to trade Sinister Cloth
Sinister Cloth is a trading item you’ll find in various trader inventories once you reach High Rank. Speak to Nata and he’ll explain he wants to provide connections to the various people around the lands, effectively acting as a hub for all traders. Trading for Sinister Cloth isn’t simple though, you’ll need rare items that you find exploring around the game. Here are a couple of traders that provide Sinister Cloth.
Kilama: 1 Great Windward Aloe for 1 Sinister Cloth
Gawdygog: 10 Ancient Wyvern Coins for 1 Sinister Cloth
Gawdygog can be found at Wudwud Hideout in the Scarlet Forest region and Kilama can be found at Kunafa Windsong Village in the Windward Plains region. You may need to speak to them once in person before they appear in Nata’s trading menu.
As for the materials you’ll need, Great Windward Aloe appear as a rare event collectible in the Windward Plains and Ancient Wyvern Coins are a rare resource you can find during your adventure.
The most reliable way to get ancient coins is finding curioshell crabs holding them. These are endemic life that can show up in any region. There are a few places that they tend to spawn pretty reliably:
- Windward Plains, Area 6: Valley Hideaway Campsite up the narrow path to the southeast
- Windward Plains, Area 14: Groundwater Vein on the large cave southeast of the camp
- Scarlet Forest, Area 6: Flowering Rocks in the underwater swimming area north of camp
- Scarlet Forest, Area 8: Underground Lake on the fishing outcrop north of the camp
How to refresh traders inventories
Traders have different inventories depending on a few factors, that means when you speak to the traders they may not have Sinister Cloth. Not to worry though because you can refresh the traders inventory.
To refresh the trader inventories you have to rest in your tent. Make your way into the tent, find the BBQ menu in the middle and then select rest. Then it asks you what kind of weather you want to skip to, plus you can select the season too. It costs 300 guild points to rest.
Once you have rested, go back to Nata and check through the inventories again. The inventories of the vendors should have changed, and you can select the Sinister Cloth. If Sinister Cloth still isn’t there, rest again until the vendors are selling Sinister Cloth.
That’s it for how to get Sinister Cloth. Let me know in the comments what you think.
