Dragon’s Breath has returned in Destiny 2, and it’s available for everyone to pick up in the game right now. Today I’m going to take a closer look at the weapons, the stats, the exotic perks, plus how to get Dragon’s Breath in Destiny 2.
How to get Dragon’s Breath
Dragon’s Breath is available from the season pass rewards track. If you have paid for the season pass you’ll be able to unlock it instantly, but if you are a free to play player, then you’ll be able to unlock it at rank 35. Therefore you don’t have to pay for the season to get hold of Dragon’s Breath, it’s available for everyone, but you will have to work for it and get 35 ranks if you play for free.
Dragon’s Breath
Let’s have a look at the weapon in a little more detail.
Burn the World (Exotic Intrinsic)
The fuel counter passively increases the longer you go without firing it, to a maximum of x5. Firing Dragon’s Breath then empties this counter, transferring all fuel to the rocket.
Rockets then embed themselves in struck targets causing Scorch damage and periodically ejecting incendiary fuel into pools around the target that inflict Scorch damage to anyone standing in them. The more fuel a rocket is fired with, the longer it lasts before detonating and the more fire it spreads.
High Octane (Exotic Intrinsic)
With this Intrinsic, nearby ignitions instantly refill your Dragon’s Breath with 2 fuel. Plus, when its fuel fully refills, it reloads itself!
Once you’ve got this thing in hand, make sure to pay a visit to the Gunsmith in the Tower so you can get the quest for the Exotic catalyst. Speaking of which…
Pyromancer (Exotic Catalyst)
This catalyst passively replenishes your Dragon Breath’s fuel faster. Eliminating combatants with this weapon causes them to spawn Firesprites, too. To get the catalyst you’ll want to pick this uo from Banshee-44. You’ll need to get the weapon from the season pass before you go to Banshee-44.
Solar Builds
This is going to be very good with Solar builds.
For Titan’s I’d recommend pairing this up with Loreley Splendor Exotic Helm or Synthoceps Exotic Arms. Both are very good for Solar builds, with Loreley helping you stay alive and Synthoceps have a focus on melee attacks.
Aspects: Sol Invictus is the only hard requirement for this build. The secondary aspect is up for debate: Roaring Flames can be more beneficial in endgame content, but Consecration is a fun and solid choice.
Fragments: Ember of Solace, Ember of Singeing, Ember of Empyrean, and Ember of Torches are recommended.
Abilities: Healing Grenade is good for extra survivability, but Solar Grenade might help for add clear. Throwing Hammer is a must for this build, and Rally Barricade is preferred as it has a shorter cooldown and provides several buffs for you and your team.
Stats: High or Max Resilience is the only requirement for this build.
For Hunters Caliban’s Hand is decent.
Aspects: Knock ‘em Down is required. The second aspect is up to you. Gunpowder Gamble can provide solid add clear, while On Your Mark grants another Fragment slot.
Fragments: Ember of Torches, and Ember of Empyrean is excellent. The other Fragments are up to personal preference, but Ember of Eruption is good.
Abilities: Proximity Knife is required. Healing Grenade is best for constant Restoration through Ember of Empyrean.
Stats: Maximum Mobility and Resilience are recommended, and high Discipline is also helpful.
For Warlocks Sunbracers is the go-to-exotic armor.
Aspects: Touch of Flame and Heat Rises.
Fragments: Ember of Ashes, Ember of Searing, Ember of Empyrean, & Ember of Resolve
Abilities & Stats: Solar Grenade, Phoenix Dive, and Incinerator Snap are the required abilities for this build.
Stats: Resilience and Recovery are the only two stats you might want to spec into here. Since you’ll be in the air for most of the time here, you might be taking more fire than usual, meaning anything to help you survive is a great choice.
For all Guardians I’d recommend the Calus Mini Tool in the Energy slot, with Incandescent, plus Riptide in the Kinetic slot. It’s a decent fire and ice combination, Riptide allows you to freeze opponents and hold them in place, and the Calus Mini Tool allows you to burn your opponents, which is going to work well with the Dragon’s Breath and building into the Scorch and Ignitions of Solar builds.
Let me know what you think of Dragon’s Breath in the comments.
