Submersion is the second crossbow to be added into the game, and it’s pretty rare for a new archetype to be added, so it’s well worth grinding to get this one into your arsenal. Today we’re going to cover the stats, perks, god rolls, plus how to get Submersion in Destiny 2.
How to get Submersion
Submersion is a new Ash & Iron weapon with a small chance to drop during Weekly Events. It first appeared in the Territories: Reclaim event, and Iron Banner. Right now, it’s available during Festival of the Lost, and it’s a random reward from the end of Festival of the Lost activities, including Haunted Altars. TLDR Submersion drops from events, and they are on pretty much most weeks now in Destiny 2, so take part in the events and you’ll have a chance for Submersion to drop for you.
Submersion
Submersion is a Legendary Power Combat Bow with a High-Impact Frame. This means it’s slow firing and high damage. This weapon is more accurate when stationary, moving slowly, and aiming down sights. Looking at the stats we have Impact 47, Velocity 42, Handling 29, Reload Speed 42, Rounds Per Minute 80, and Magazine 0.
The Origin Trait here is Contending Cascade. This weapon gains bonus handling and reload speed based on your longest chain of rapid final blows from any source. After achieving an impressive record, final blows with this weapon create an elemental damage explosion.
Though crossbows are still new to the game, the first entry — Opaque Hourglass — made quite the impression. With strong damage output and versatile combos, it set a high bar. That’s why Submersion feels like a bit of a step back, even if its Chill Clip perk helps it stand out. Two bolts are enough to freeze targets, and since ammo is effectively unlimited, you can keep the pressure on. Better yet, if you’ve got Serrated Bolts equipped, pulling a bolt from a frozen enemy causes them to shatter — a satisfying synergy.
What really makes Submersion special, though, is its unique origin trait, Contending Cascade. The faster you rack up final blows — from any source — the faster your reload speed climbs, eventually triggering elemental explosions on kills. Essentially, it grants a Dragonfly-like effect just for going on a tear, making it a great weapon for aggressive playstyles.
