Refurbished A499

How to get Refurbished A499 (Heavy Ammo Sniper) plus god roll guide in Destiny 2

Refurbished A499 is a heavy ammo sniper added to Destiny 2 Renegades. This is based on Amban Blaster used by the Mandalorian bounty hunter. It’s now in Destiny 2, and we don’t see many heavy ammo sniper rifles, and this thing hits HARD. Today I am going to show you the stats, perks, god rolls, plus we’re going to run through how to get the Refurbished A499 in Destiny 2.

How to get the Refurbished A499

Refurbished A499 drops from the Renegades campaign and can appear as a reward throughout Renegades-related activities. You can also earn it in the Lawless Frontier by reaching Rank 2 reputation with the Fallen faction.

Refurbished A499

Refurbished A499 is a Legendary Power Sniper Rifle and it’s a Disruption Weapon meaning it fires a single heavy-hitting round. Disintegrates targets on impact. Looking at the stats we have Impact 100, Range 71, Stability 27, Handling 25, Reload Speed 11, Rounds Per Minute 72, Magazine 1.

The Origin Traits are Accelerated Assault and Air-cooled Core.

Accelerated Assault – Dealing sustained damage with this weapon increases reload speed and slightly increases damage.

Air-cooled Core – Sprinting increases vent or reload speed for a short time. While at low heat or full magazine, gain increased handling and movement speed when aiming down sights.

Refurbished A499 might come with a fairly underwhelming perk pool, but as a complete package it offers one of the strongest archetypes in the game. In PvE, its raw output is enormous—easily comparable to top-tier DPS options, especially when you factor in the ability to animation-cancel during reloads.

To break it down: Refurbished A499 hits for 2,362 damage per shot at 72 RPM, giving it a baseline DPS of 2,834. For a weapon with such low maintenance, that’s excellent. It can reliably match—or even outperform—other legendary sustained-DPS setups, and it may even find a place in rotations alongside the newly buffed Izanagi’s Burden. Its only drawback is the lackluster perk selection, but the sheer performance more than compensates.

In PvP, the weapon is much more niche simply because it’s a Heavy option, so it doesn’t meaningfully shake up the sandbox. Overall, Refurbished A499 lands at S-tier for PvE and B-tier for PvP.

Refurbished A499 god roll guide

For PVE Arrowhead Brake, Flared Magwell, Snapshot Sights, Aggregate Charge, Masterwork Handling

  • Arrowhead Brake – Greatly controls recoil, increases handling speed
  • Flared Magwell – Slightly increases stability, greatly increases reload speed
  • Snapshot Sights – Faster time to aim down sights
  • Aggregate Charge – This weapon deals more damage for each elemental debuff applied to the target.
  • Masterwork Handling

This setup is tailored for players who plan to use Refurbished A499 within a broader swap-DPS rotation rather than relying solely on sustained fire. If you do prefer to sit and shoot with it, prioritize maxing Reload Speed instead of Handling wherever possible to keep the weapon feeling responsive. Otherwise, Handling remains the priority to enable fast and fluid weapon swaps.

The first perk column doesn’t offer much of value. Snapshot Sights provides some welcome quality of life—especially when enhanced, adding 5 Stability—but realistically, you can slot almost anything here due to the weak overall selection.

The second column is similarly underwhelming. Our choice is Aggregate Charge, which can deliver a significant damage boost but requires some setup. It’s the only meaningful DPS option available. If you intend to fire continuously, Box Breathing is arguable, but even then it ultimately results in lower overall damage.

For PVP Fluted Barrel, Steady Rounds, Snapshot Sights, Mulligan, Masterwork Handling

  • Fluted Barrel – Greatly increases handling speed, Slightly increases stability
  • Steady Rounds – Greatly increases stability, Slightly decreases range, Increases airborne effectiveness
  • Snapshot Sights – Faster time to aim down sights
  • Mulligan – Missing a shot has a chance to return ammo directly to the magazine.
  • Masterwork Handling

In PvP, the priority is improving quality of life. The Range is already more than sufficient—Refurbished A499 is effectively a one-shot kill across most engagement distances—so the goal is to smooth out the weapon’s inherent drawbacks.

With that in mind, boosting Handling and Stability becomes key, and the perk choices reflect this. Snapshot Sights offers a noticeable comfort boost, improving weapon feel while also adding 5 Stability. Lone Wolf is a solid alternative if you’re less confident in consistently landing your shots.

In the second column, the options are limited, making Mulligan the only meaningful choice. Since this sniper consumes Heavy ammo, the occasional ammo refund on a missed shot can actually matter.
