The Exotic Khvostov is back in Destiny 2, and this is probably the best version of Khvostov we’ve seen. Today I am going to walk you through the steps for how to get Khvostov in Destiny 2.

Before we start, you’ll need The Final Shape expansion, and you’ll need to complete the campaign. We’re going to be finding a number of collectables around The Pale Heart of the Traveler, so I’m going to focus on the path to get them rather than describing. I’ll timestamp everything in the comments, so you can jump around if need be. If something isn’t covered, ask a question in the comments and I’ll get back to you.

Without further delay, let’s get stuck in for how to get this weapon.

Step 1 – Collection Lost Encryption Bits

We’re going to need to find all the Lost Encryption Bits. There are 9 in region chests and 6 in Cyst missions.

Step 2 – Region chests

There are 9 region chests on the Pale Heart, 3 in each area. You can find these indicated on your map.

Step 3 – Cyst missions

The remaining 5 are found in Cyst missions. You unlock these are part of the post camapign questline from Micah-10 called Alone in the Dark. If you’ve unlocked them already you’ll be able to select them from the map and there are 2 in each area on the Pale Heart. Follow along with the video and I’ll show you the locations.

Step 4 – Get the Legendary Khvostov

Once you get the 15 Lost Encryption Bits, that will turn into the Lost Encryption Code. Then go to the Impasse to find the chest for the Legendary Khvostov. Follow along with the video to find it.

Step 5 – Find 17 Motes of Light

Next up we have to find 17 motes of light, which combine into an exotic mote. The first 8 are found in the visions of the traveler, then the remaining 9 are found through the 9 unique bosses in Overflow.

Step 6 – Visions of the Traveler

The Visions of the Traveler are found around the Pale Heart. Follow along for the locations.

Step 7 – Overthrow

Finally, we need to complete Overthrow in each zone of the Pale Heart to get the remaining 9 Motes of Light. Each zone has 3 unique bosses, and you’ll need to defeat each one. When you defeat the final one, the motes will combine into an Exotic mote called Mote of Primordial Light.

Step 8 – Get Exotic Khvostov

Go to the Lost City and go to the location where the Speaker used to be. I’ll show you the path on screen. Place the 8 visions of the traveler, that will spawn a chest, then use the exotic mote to open the chest and the Exotic Khvostov will be yours.
