Destiny 2 can be overhwleming and confusing for new players, and one of the best parts of the game is getting decent weapons. But where do you go to get good legendary weapons? Today I want to break down where to go and what to do to get some of the best legendary weapons in the game, so you have all the tools you need to go into battle, whatever activity you enjoy.
Without further delay, lets dive into things.
Nightfall
Nightfalls are a a great place to get Legendary weapons. One weapon is featured every week and you have a random chance to get a drop at the end of a nightfall, and I would recommend Legend, Master or Grandmaster difficulty. The weapons are on rotation, so if the weapon you want isn’t featured that week, then you may have to wait for a following week. You can check out the Nightfall weapons at Zavala in the Tower Courtyard. If you complete Grandmaster Nightfalls then you can get Adept versions of these weapons, which accept Adept Mods. A couple of good one’s to look out for are Undercurrent (Arc Wave Frame Grande Launcher) or Warden’s Law (Hand Cannon).
Dungeons
Dungeons are excellent places to farm for good legendary weapons. Dunegons are paid content, you’ll need a Dungeon pass, although this comes with the Deluxe version of the expansions. You can find Dungeons on various planets and moons and have a unique icon. These are 3 player activities, but you can go in solo or use Fireteam Finder to find a team. Warlord’s Ruin is the latest Dungeon which you can find on the EDZ, and from that you can get Indebted Kindness (Rocket Sidearm). Grasp of Avarice is found on the Cosmodrome and from that you’ll get The Matador 64, which is an excellent shotgun for PVP.
Raids
Raids are probably the best place to get legendary weapons. This can be a little more difficult to get a team together, but the introduction of Fireteam finder has really helped get a team together, or you can use the Fireteams feature on the Bungie mobile app. Raids include Vow of the Disciple, Vault of Glass, Kings Fall, Last Wish, Garden, Crota’s End, Root of Nightmares and the Deep Stone Crypt. Some good legendary weapons to look out for include Zaouli’s Bane (Solar Hand Cannon from Kings Fall), Rufus’ Fury (Strand Auto Rifle from Root of Nightmares), Fatebringer (Hand Cannon from Vault of Glass), Forbearance (Grenade Launcher from Vow), Heritage (Shotgun DSC)
World drop weapons
World drop weapons are legendary weapons that can be found by opening any legendary engram, that could be at the end of activities, Lost Sectors, from the season pass or by ranking up with Banshee-44. Some good world drop weapons to take note of are Heliocentric QSC (Solar Sidearm), Ros Arago IV (Void Auto Rifle) and the Crux Termination IV (Arc Rocket Launcher).
Banshee-44
The next place you can get legendary weapons is Banshee-44. He’s the gunsmith, and you can find him under the stairs in the Tower when you land at the courtyard. You can level up Banshee-44 and get engrams from him, which will give you random weapons from his pool, or you can trade in materials for legendary weapons. He features 2 sets of weapons per week, plus he has some featured weapons. They aren’t always guaranteed to be good weapons, but there are some worth keeping an eye out for including the Ammit AR2 (Auto Rifle). Banshee-44’s weapons change on a weekly basis (with the reset on tuesday), plus the rolls change throughout the week.
Xur
Xur is our wandering vendor, and he arrives on Friday until reset on Tuesday. He’s essentially a catch up mechanic to allow Guardians to get Exotic weapons and armor, but he also sells legendary weapons too, and these are mainly from previous seasons. He arrives at a location each week and that will be on the EDZ (near the Winding Cove), The Tower (in the Hangar) or Nessus (up a tree at Watcher’s Grave). Some good weapons to look out for include Calus Mini-tool (Submachine Gun), Beloved (Sniper), but there are many more.
Cruicble
PVP is a good place to find decent legendary weapons. Play cruicble matches and you’ll get random drops at the end of matches, that includes Riptide (Stasis Fusion Rifle), which is one of my most used weapons in the game. Different cruicble game modes offer different legendary weapons. For example, the competitve playlist will give you Belisaruis-D (Pule Rifle) and Rose (Hand Cannon). You can also focus engrams at Lord Shaxx in the Tower Courtyard for good weapons, and he has a decent range so try them out and see what you think.
Trials of Osiris
Trials of Osiris is the weekend PVP event, where you can get some excellent weapons, including Adept weapons. You’ll have to pay a visit to Saint-14 in the Tower Hanagr to get a Trials ticket, that will get you into Trials for the weekend. Rank up with Saint-14 to get good legendary weapons. A couple to look out for include Igenous Hammer (Hand Cannon), and Eye of Sol (Sniper) – both are excellent weapons for PVP.
Iron Banner
Iron Banner is another time limited PVP event, this happens 3 times per season, and you know when this event is on because Lord Saladin is in the Tower courtyard. Play Iron Banner matches, rank up with him to get Iron Banner weapons, plus you get random drops at the end of Iron Banner matches. One good one to look out for includes Lethal Abundance, which is a Strand Auto Rifle, but Lord Saladin has a good array of weapons.
Dares of Eternity
Dares of Eternity is Bungie’s 30th anniversary celebration inside Destiny 2. You can find this from Eternity via the Director. Some good weapons to look out for include The Other Half (Sword), and BXR Battler (Pulse Rilfe).
Latest expansion
The latest expansion always offers up some great loot. At the time of making this guide Lightfall was out latest expansion, with Neomuna being the location to explore. Public events on Neomuna help you get these weapons, plus ranking up with the location vendor, in this case it’s Nimbus near one of the landing points. A good weapon to look out for here is Round Robin, that’s a 120 rpm hand cannon. In the future we’ll have The Final Shape, and it’s likely we’ll have The Pale Heart of the Traveller as a destination, with a vendor there, so make sure to check that out too when it arrives in June 2024.
Season of the Wish
Seasonal weapons can be good legendary weapons to get. Each season we’ve had a seasonal activity and vendor, this time it’s Riven in the H.E.L.M. plus we have activities like Riven’s Lair, and the Coil. Some good seasonal weapons this season include Subjunctive (Submachine Gun) and Scatter Signal (Fusion Rifle)
Exotic Mission Rotator
The Exotic Mission rotator features a legacy exotic mission each week, and there’s some very good legendary weapons here. Currently we have 3 exotic missions on rotation, which change each week at reset time. Presage is one of my favourite missions, given we get the Opulent weapons which include Calus Mini Tool, Austringer, Beloved and Drang.
Crafting
Crafting legendary weapons is available on Savathun’s Throne World. You have to collect weapon patterns to be able to craft weapons, this normally is 5 red border weapons. You can check out all the patterns you have in the UI. Once you get a red border weapon, you have to extract the deepsight, where you hover over the weapon and select the deepsight to extract. Do this on 5 versions of the weapon to get a pattern, then you can craft you own version at the Enclave on Savathun’s Throne World. Once you have the weapon, level it up by using it and you’ll unlcok new perks. This removes the random nature of weapon drops, but it does allow for a focused chase if you want something specific. Once again, the Opulent weapons are very good Calus Mini Tool, Austringer, Beloved and Drang.

Seasonal activities, dungeons, raids, nightfalls.

I like to play Gambits, and I open the engrams I collect. Sometimes I just do my quests and sometimes I get legendary gear and weapons.
Let me know what you think in the comments, and let me know where you get your legendary weapons.
