The droprate of Exotic Class Items has been significantly buffed in the Overthrow activity found on the Pale Heart of the Traveller. This is in additon to the Exotic Class Item focusing options found at Ghost on the Pale Heart, so now is the best time to farm Exotic Class Items. Today I’m going to run through a quick guide on how to farm Exotic Class Items in Destiny 2.

How to farm Exotic Class Items

The best farm for Exotic Class Items is now to take part in the Overthrow activity found on the Pale Heart. We used to get drops on completion of Overthow, however, it appears as if the drop rate has been significantly increased. Exotic Class Items are dropping from the final chest, but also inbetween Overthrow rounds. Previously it would take 2-3 whole overthrow activities, which does take a lot of time, to get a single drop. It appears now they are dropping for every overthrown completion, plus also between round too… which means the drop rate has at least doubled.

You still have to go through the Dual Destiny Exotic mission to get your first drop, but once you do that then you can now easily farm multiple Exotic Class Item drops through the Overthrow activity.

Xur also sells Exotic Class Items on occasion. He’s based in the Tower and arrives on Friday and leaves on Tuesday, at reset time. He doesn’t always sell Exotic Class Items, but it’s another good way to farm, you do however need Strange Coins to purchase from Xur when he’s sellng them.

How to focus farm Exotic Class Items

There are a lot of variations of perks for Exotic Class Items, meaning getting the one you want used to take a lot of time. That has been made significantly easier and quicker with the addition of Exotic Class Item attunement at the Ghost NPC found in the Lost City on the Pale Heart. Speak to Ghost, select the perk you want to attune and then go farming for your Exotic Class Items. This isn’t going to focus 100% on what you want, but it’s going to massively narrow down the options, making farming for Exotic Class Items much easier and quicker.

How to find the Overthrow activity

You can access the Overthrow activity after you complete The Final Shape Campaign. The post campaign missions send you into the open areas of the Pale Heart – The Impasse, The Landing and The Blooming. By going to these areas you’ll join an Overthrow activity.

Each Overthrow has four levels, each with the following objective:

Earn 1000 Points
Earn 1000 Points
Earn 1000 Points
Defeat a powerful force of Darkness

Killing enemies gets you points, plus you’ll get additional points for completing smaller public events within those open zones. You may have to open chests or defeat powerful enemies. You’ll see the public event symbol, so follow that if you want to complete Overthrow faster. Random powerful enemies spawn, so keep your eyes on open and kill anything that moves for bonus points and completing your tiers quicker. After you earn 3000 points, the event will culminate in a boss battle. Exotic class items are dropping from the final chest after you beat the boss, but some Guardians have been reporting Exotic Class Items dropping between rounds too.

In summary, it’s now much easier and quicker to farm exotic class items by playing Overthrow. Give it a try and share your drop rates.
