Everything revealed in the Episode Revenant Act 2 Developer Livestream

This week Bungie revealed what’s coming in Revenant Act 2, which lands in the game next Tuesday on 19th November at reset time. Today I’m going to dive into everything that was revealed including a brand new activity, new and returning weapons, a preview for the holiday event, Iron Banner News, a buff to roaming supers, we have a tease for a new exotic shotgun coming in Act 3 plus we have some surprising collaborations coming to Destiny 2.

Act 2 is going to continue the story of Fikrul The Fanatic, and his attempt to turn the Eliksni into Scorn with the use of an echo. Bungie didn’t go into the story details, but we don’t have too long to wait because all the story beats are dropping at the same time, like they did with Act 1 in Episode Revenant.

Tomb of Elders

Act 2 is introducing a revamped version of Prison of Elders from Destiny 1, now called Tomb of Elders. The core of the activity remains, but Bungie have revamped it with more rogue-lite mechanics in minds, similar to The Coil, Deep Dives and Riven’s Lair from seasons throughout Lightfall. Bungie’s goal here is to create repeatable activities that change each time, and it’s likely going to go into the Vanguard Ops playlist when Frontiers releases sometime in 2025.

Fans of Destiny 1 will remember Prison of Elders, this time we have the Warden Survitor narrating our gameplay and it’s down to us to impress the Warden, complete waves of activities and get as much loot as we possibly can. Bungie are introducing some interesting mechanics here, including skipping sections of the activity if you are efficient with your team, plus the addition of poison gas filling the arena, meaning you have interact with 3 switches to turn it off. It’s adding simple mechanics in here, but something you are going to have to pay attention to.

This “reimagined” activity will feature new and returning bosses, bringing back the survival-style gameplay. Unlike the original, however, the Tomb of Elders introduces new enemy factions like the Dread, and updated bosses, modifiers, and challenges. Here’s how Bungie described this mode during the livestream.

“It’s very close to Riven’s Lair. For those who remembered, in Riven’s Lair, you had a trap room, then an encounter, then another trap room, then a boss. In this, it’s slightly more action-focused. So we have, that cryopod encounter first, then you’ll have the faction encounter – it’ll take you to a random arena throughout the prison.

“Then you’ll have a short travesal section, and then you’ll have a boss. And after that, you’ll be pulled into the Warden’s office and get your loot and run around the loop again.”

The Tomb of Elders features an in-activity reputation system called Warden’s Judgment. When you complete challenges and bonus objectives, it’ll grand you positive stacks, known as Warden’s Favor, which will increase the encounter difficulty while offering improved rewards. Conversely, negative stacks, called Warden’s Punishment, slightly lower the challenge level.

Here’s the official description for Warden’s Judgment reputation system:

Warden’s Judgment: A dynamic range of values tied to the activity’s difficulty. Stacks of positive Judgment are called Warden’s Favor and increase encounter difficulty. Stacks of negative Judgment are called Warden’s Punishment and slightly decrease difficulty.

Warden’s Sentencing: Following every reward phase, the Warden will assess the fireteam’s Judgment rating. Warden’s Favor allows the fireteam to skip an encounter, while Warden’s Punishment activates the Punishment Protocol.

Secondary Objectives: Challenges and critical objectives appear in every encounter. Mastery of these objectives contributes toward Warden’s Judgment.

Rewards: Granted upon the defeat of a boss. Subsequent laps pay out better rewards. Stacks of Warden’s Favor increase your rewards even further.

New and returning weapons

We have 2 new seasonal weapons coming into the game including the Noxious Vetiver Submachine Gun, the Scavenger’s Fate shotgun, and the returning Gridskipper pulse rifle from Season of the Splicer. Scavenger’s Fate looks very similar to Dust Rock Blues, a popular shotgun from back in the day.

Noxious Vetiver Submachine Gun

This is a Precision Frame SMG dealing arc damage. We have some good perks here including Jolting Feedback, Target Lock, Frenzy, Rampage, Loose Change and To The Pain.

Scavenger’s Fate Shotgun

This is a precision frame shotgun, very popular in the sandbox right now. It deals void damage and can roll with perpetual motion/surrounded, slideshot/closing time, dual loader/detablising rounds, plus other decent combinations.

Gridskipper Pulse Rifle

This is a rapid-fire pulse rifle that deals void damage. Killing Wind/Multikill Clip, Perpetual Motion/Headseeker, Repulsor Brace/Destabilising Rounds. We have some classic combinations here, plus some new perks for the weapon. This is one I want to get for sure.

Destiny 2 x Street Fighter Crossover

We have a crossover coming with Street Fighter, including some ghost skins and a Blanka Mask Ornament. These are mainly cosmetic items that are going to be in the Eververse Store. Some of the best items including finishers like Hadoken, Lightning Kick, Spinning Bird Kick.

The Dawning 2024

Our holiday event kicks off on 10th December 2024, and our armor is themed around Celestial Space Dragons. Dawning Engrams are making a comeback which is going to help us get double perks on weapons. Strange coins are being added into the mix for Dawning Gift rewards.

We have a new weapon called Mistral Lift Linear Fusion Rifle, this is an adaptive burst linear fusion which allows for the three round burst. It’s a void weapon, and has the potential to be a popular choice for the power slot.

Destiny 2 Revenant Exotic Shotgun

Bungie also gave us a tease of the new exotic that’s going to be added into the game as part of Act 3, which is coming in early January in 2025, which isn’t too far away.

This exotic shotgun appears to be part of the new exotic mission, which is expected to launch with Episode Revenant Act 3 on January 7, 2025.

Based on Bungie’s API data, the Slayer’s Fang exotic shotgun comes with two unique perks: “Nightsworn Sight” and “Heart Piercer.”

Nightsworn Sight – Dealing final blows to targets grants Nightsworn Sight. During that time, final blows grant Truesight, ammo slowly reloads from reserves, and submunitions weaken targets.

Heart Piercer – Rounds from this weapon shatter into submunitions on impact. Strong against Overload Champions.

This exotic weapon looks very good, and looking forward to getting another exotic mission as Bungie has been doing a great job with those recently.

Roaming Supers

Bungie is buffing roaming Supers in Act 2, only in PvE. This will allow you to get your Super back “two to three times faster” than normal.

Iron Banner

Iron Banner returns on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, with a new armor set and new weapons.

Let me know what you think in the comments.
