How to get Returned Memory (Rocket Sidearm) plus god roll guide in Destiny 2

Hype for The Edge of Fate is at an all-time high. Guardians are diving into Kepler, exploring The Portal, and getting ready for The Desert Perpetual. If you’re a new or returning player, figuring out which new weapons are actually worth chasing can feel overwhelming.

Thankfully, Returned Memory is one of the easiest and most rewarding new additions. Whether you skipped the Echoes episodes or you’re just catching up, this rocket sidearm is a must-grab for any PvE loadout.

How to get Returned Memory

Returned Memory is a brand-new Crucible weapon introduced with Season of Reclamation (Edge of Fate). The best way to get it is from End-of-Match Crucible Drops

Returned Memory has a chance to drop at the end of any Crucible match:

Control
Clash
Competitive
Crucible Labs
Iron Banner (when active)

Returned Memory

Returned Memory is a Legendary Energy Sidearm with a Micro-Missile Frame meaning it fires self-propelled micro-missiles that explode on impact for high damage.

Looking at the stats we have Blast Radius 35, Velocity 54, Stability 52, Handling 44, Reload Speed 32, Rounds Per Minute 100, Magazine 12.

We have 3 origin traits to choose from:

  • Roar of the Battle – Being in combat for a short duration increases handling and stability.
  • Wild Card – Final blows with this weapon have a chance to create experimental submunitions at the target’s location.
  • Tenacity – When targets are nearby, final blows grant weapon damage, reload speed, and handling until the wielder’s death.

Returned Memory checks every meta box: an extremely strong frame, excellent perk combinations, and a simple acquisition path.

In PvE, Returned Memory fills the same niche as Aberrant Action, the Solar rocket sidearm introduced in Episode: Echoes. The standout combo here is Heal Clip + Incandescent, giving you survivability, ad clear, and extremely high uptime on Solar-synergy builds. Even without a Solar subclass, this combo performs at top-tier levels in all PvE content.

In PvP, the story changes. Rocket sidearms rarely shine in the Crucible, and Returned Memory is no exception. While it can be made usable, there are almost always better choices in the Special slot.

Returned Memory PvE God Roll

PvE Roll: All-Around
Slot Perk
Barrel Quick Launch
Magazine Flared Magwell
Perk 1 Heal Clip (alt: Lead From Gold)
Perk 2 Incandescent
Masterwork Handling
Origin Trait Tenacity

Why This Roll Works

Quick Launch + Flared Magwell smooths handling and reload—crucial on Micro-Missile frames.
Heal Clip + Incandescent is an S-tier Solar combo: survivability, ad clear, and build synergy.
Tenacity offers bonus stats and extra damage after kills, complementing the Incandescent chain reactions. If you struggle with ammo, Lead From Gold is a workable alternative, but you should first check armor mods for ammo generation.

Returned Memory PvP God Roll

PvP Roll: All-Around
Slot Perk
Barrel Quick Launch
Magazine High-Velocity Rounds
Perk 1 Beacon Rounds (alt: Impulse Amplifier)
Perk 2 Desperate Measures
Masterwork Velocity
Origin Trait Roar of Battle or Tenacity

Why This Roll Works

Quick Launch + HVR boosts projectile travel speed—critical for landing shots in duels.
Beacon Rounds / Impulse Amplifier improves accuracy and projectile consistency.
Desperate Measures doesn’t excel, but it offers minor damage increases in niche situations.
Returned Memory is still mediocre in PvP overall—but this roll minimizes its weaknesses.
