Haliaetus is a new high-impact rocket launcher and it deals strand damage. It’s shot up the popularity charts for weapons in Ash & Iron and today I’m going to check out the stats, perks, god rolls, plus how to get Haliaetus in Destiny 2.
How to get Haliaetus
Haliaetus is a random drop from completing Solo Ops and Fireteam Ops activities in the Portal. Keep an eye on The Portal for when it becomes a featured weapon for a guaranteed drop, and then a high chance on subsequent drops for meeting the score threshold. We cover all Portal weapons here.
Haliaetus
Haliaetus is a Legendary Power Rocket Launcher with a High-Impact Frame that means it’s slow firing and high damage. This weapon is more accurate when stationary, moving slowly, and aiming down sights.
Looking at the stats we have Blast Radius 90, Velocity 39, Stability 56, Handling 64, Reload Speed 31, Rounds Per Minute 15, Magazine 1.
Haliaetus shows strong potential in PvE but struggles in PvP. Its High-Impact Frame delivers excellent damage against larger PvE targets, making it a solid fit for the current meta. With the right god roll, it performs reliably across all levels of endgame content.
In PvP, however, Haliaetus falls short. The low Velocity stat and a lack of standout perks in its key slots make it less competitive compared to other options. While it faces tough competition among High-Impact Frames with similar stats, its Strand element gives it unique value, especially if you’re experimenting with Strand builds and need a dependable weapon. For Crucible play, though, stronger alternatives exist in the sandbox, so it’s not recommended at this time.
Haliaetus god roll guide
For PVE Quick Launch, Impact Casing, Auto-Loading Holster, Aggregate Charge, Masterwork Velocity
The key perks on Haliaetus are designed around team play to maximize damage output. It starts with Auto-Loading Holster—fire a rocket, swap to your next heavy hitter, and by the time you rotate back, Haliaetus will have reloaded itself and be ready for another shot.
The real power comes from pairing this with Aggregate Charge. With three debuffs applied, this perk grants a massive 40% damage boost. While the buff only lasts three seconds, it can be consistently refreshed, especially if a teammate is running Tractor Cannon. Even without a coordinated team, you can trigger debuffs through other weapons and abilities, keeping Haliaetus effective in solo play as well.
For PVP Quick Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, Impulse Amplifier, Binary Orbit, Masterwork Velocity
Haliaetus’s frame, combined with underwhelming final perk options, doesn’t make it the most exciting choice. Still, like any Rocket Launcher, it can get the job done in PvP—if you can consistently land your shots.
For this setup, Velocity is the stat to prioritize. Pairing Quick Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, and Impulse Amplifier significantly boosts projectile speed, making it easier to secure hits. The final perk selection is less impressive, but Binary Orbit stands out for its synergy. After scoring a final blow with a Light-element weapon, it grants a 25% damage bonus, ensuring your next rocket leaves no chance of escape.
