How to get Gunburn (Legendary Submachine Gun) plus god roll guide in Destiny 2

Gunburn is a submachine gun added to Destiny 2 as part of Festival of the Lost in Ash & Iron. This one has some powerful perks, and will give other kinetic SMGs a run for their money. Today I’m going to check out the stats, perks, god rolls, plus how to get Gunburn in Destiny 2.

How to get Gunburn

Gunburn can be earned through Eerie Engrams, which drop from both Festival of the Lost activities. You can also receive up to two additional Eerie Engrams each day from other Portal activities. Beyond that, Gunburn is available for purchase with Candy, obtainable through Event Home rank rewards, or directly buyable from the Event Shop. Best of all, any drop of Gunburn will arrive at a higher Power level than your current one.

Gunburn

Gunburn is a Legendary Kinetic Submachine Gun with a Lightweight Frame meaning Superb handling. Move faster with this weapon equipped.

Looking at the stats we have Impact 15, Range 25, Stability 37, Handling 66, Reload Speed 28, Rounds Per Minute 900, and Magazine 38.

The Origin Traits here are Search Party and Veist Stinger. Search Party is where this weapon is granted faster aim down sights speed and movement speed while aiming down sights when no allies are near. Veist Stinger is damaging an enemy with this weapon has a small chance to reload the magazine and increase movement speed while aiming down sights. Bows receive faster draw speed and swords receive faster charge rate while this perk is active.

Gunburn is a strong addition to the Lightweight Frame lineup, comfortably landing in the middle of the archetype’s power curve. With a well-rounded perk pool, it has solid potential to find a place in your loadout and perform reliably—though it lacks some of the top-tier perk combinations seen on similar weapons. As an event-exclusive weapon, Gunburn benefits from its chase appeal, featuring a festive variant that adds a bit of (pumpkin) flair. Its best roll makes it an excellent supporting option among the current crop of dominant Special weapons.

The perk selection clearly leans toward PvE play, with only limited flexibility in PvP. Still, its respectable base stats ensure it can hold its own in either environment when paired with the right roll. Overall, Gunburn earns an A-Tier rating in both PvE and PvP.

Destiny 2 Gunburn: God Rolls & How to get it

Released with the Ash & Iron Major Update, Gunburn is a Kinetic symbol Destiny 2 icon Kinetic Lightweight SMG that can be farmed by participating in the Festival of the Lost. Gunburn brings with it a few powerful perk combinations that will scare the life out of any enemy that crosses our path. This guide covers its place in the current Meta, top rolls for PvE and PvP, and how to farm it.

How good is Gunburn

Gunburn is a solid addition to the Lightweight Frame family and slots nicely in the middle of the archetype. Dropping in with a solid perk set, Gunburn does have potential to fit into a loadout and do a strong job, but it does lack certain perk combinations that the same weapon type holds elsewhere. Gunburn, being an event weapon, is to its advantage chase-wise as it comes with a shiny variant which gives it extra (pumpkin) spice, and this god roll is a great support roll to the wave of powerful Special weapons currently at our disposal.

The perks definitely show Gunburn as a PvE-focused weapon, with its variety in PvP quite limited. However, it’s got decent base stats, which means it will do the work in either of these god roll picks. Gunburn is A-Tier for PvE and A-Tier for PvP.

A-tier for PvE A-tier for PvP

Gunburn PvE god rolls

PvE Roll: All-Around
Barrel Fluted Barrel
Magazine Flared Magwell
Perk 1 Lead from Light (also good: Bewildering Burst)
Perk 2 Attrition Orbs (also good: One for All, Kinetic Tremors)
Masterwork Reload Speed
Origin Trait Veist Stinger
Coming out of the box with a good base to build from, adding Fluted Barrel for Handling and Flared Magwell for added Stability and Reload Speed gets this god roll off to the best start.
The ‘run and gun’ aspect of this archetype is what makes them so fun, so this god roll leans into that aspect. A newer perk to the game in Lead from Light, paired up with Attrition Orbs, makes for good synergy in the gameplay loop, as sustained damage will produce an Orb of Power. Collecting this Orb then feeds Lead from Light, as well as any other Orb of Power picked up, to charge up the Special ammo meter to ensure your big damage dealers in your loadout stay well stocked on ammo.

Kinetic Tremors is also a great choice in the final perk slot, being easy to activate due to the high rate of fire that Gunburn carries.

Gunburn PvP god rolls
PvP Roll: All-Around
Barrel Hammer-Forged Rifling
Magazine Accurized Rounds
Perk 1 Lone Wolf
Perk 2 Target Lock
Masterwork Range
Origin Trait Search Party
Gunburn won’t be pulling up any trees when it comes to PvP, but just like similar weapons in its archetype, it can get the job done in a skilled hand, and this weapon type has always felt good to use. Start by focusing on the Range stat, which pulls Hammer-Forged Rifling and Accurized Rounds in for a solid +20 off the bat.

For the main per set, start with Lone Wolf. The boosts to Aim Assist and Aim Down Sight (ADS) speeds can be the difference between winning and losing in tight engagements. Round his PvP god roll off with Target Lock. A potent choice in PvP for its damage-boosting capabilities and ability to hit a maximum of 25 percent for sustained damage, Gunburn is the standout perk in this slot, making it the most effective in the Crucible.
