This Void Warlock build with Contraverse Hold and Third Iteration thrives on an endless loop of grenades, healing, and weapon synergy. Overcharged Vortex Grenades weaken and devastate enemies, Contraverse Hold refunds energy and keeps you safe, and Devour ensures constant healing. With fragments fueling explosions and Volatile Rounds, plus Third Iteration granting invisibility and precision damage, the result is a durable, high-damage setup that never runs out of momentum.
Why this build is good
This build is so strong because it’s centered on Contraverse Hold, which perfectly complements a grenade-focused Void Warlock playstyle. The perk Chaotic Exchanger gives you resistance while charging grenades and refunds grenade energy when they land, which means you can play aggressively without fear of being punished during that vulnerable wind-up. Paired with Chaos Accelerant, your Vortex Grenade becomes larger, lasts longer, and pulls enemies in while shredding them, turning it into a repeatable source of both damage and control. Every time you land one, Contraverse Hold pushes you closer to your next grenade, making the cycle almost endless.
Third Iteration adds a unique exotic weapon element to the setup because it’s not only a high-damage Void scout rifle, but it also plays into the Void synergy of the fragments. The Tri-Planar Mass Driver perk lets you adapt between spreading projectiles or a compressed high-damage shot, while Amalgamation Rounds give you invisibility and truesight on precision kills or marked enemy finishes. When combined with Volatile Rounds from Echo of Instability, Third Iteration’s Void projectiles hit even harder, chaining explosions and keeping you alive through stealth. It isn’t just a weapon—it becomes a natural extension of your ability loop, activating invisibility and volatile effects that make you slippery and lethal.
The chosen aspects and fragments ensure everything fits together seamlessly. Feed the Void means any ability kill activates Devour, so your grenade, melee, or super will instantly restore health and set up a chain of healing and ability regeneration. Echo of Undermining ensures your grenades weaken enemies, increasing overall team and personal DPS. Echo of Remnants extends the duration of the vortex, maximizing the benefit of your Chaos Accelerant overcharge, while Echo of Expulsion turns Void final blows into explosions for extra ad-clear. Echo of Instability is the lynchpin fragment because your grenade kills immediately fuel your Void weapons with Volatile Rounds, turning both Third Iteration and Hammerhead into shredding machines that ripple with chain explosions.
Together, these pieces create a loop that is almost impossible to break. Contraverse Hold ensures you are always stocked with empowered grenades, your aspects and fragments ensure those grenades feed back health, weaken enemies, and spread explosions, and Third Iteration adds an exotic weapon layer that ties invisibility and damage amplification into the same cycle. The synergy between staying alive, constantly outputting damage, and using abilities more often than your opponents makes this build incredibly effective, resilient, and fun to play.
Gameplay loop
Start fights by overcharging and throwing a Vortex Grenade; Contraverse Hold reduces incoming damage while charging and refunds grenade energy on hit, while Echo of Undermining weakens everything caught inside.
Secure kills with grenades or Pocket Singularity to trigger Feed the Void, activating Devour for constant healing and ability regeneration.
Pick up Orbs of Power from Harmonic Siphon or weapon kills to trigger Grenade Kickstart, Absolution, and Bomber, accelerating your cooldowns and feeding the loop.
Swap to Third Iteration after grenade kills to take advantage of Volatile Rounds from Echo of Instability, using precision Amalgamation Rounds to melt marked enemies, gain invisibility, and reposition safely.
Use Nova Bomb for bosses or clustered enemies, then continue the cycle of grenade spam, weapon synergy, and Devour healing to keep yourself topped up and your abilities constantly available.
Exotic Armor
Contraverse Hold
Contraverse Hold are Exotic Warlock Gauntlets with the perk Chaotic Exchanger.
Chaotic Exchanger – Resist incoming damage while charging your Void grenade with Chaos Accelerant. Charged Void grenades return grenade energy on a hit.
You can get these from Master Rahool in the Tower or from Xur when he’s selling them.
Prismatic Subclass Setup
Super – Nova Bomb, Hurl an explosive bolt of Void Light at a target, disintegrating those caught within its blast. Nova Bomb travels slowly and seeks targets. Detonations shatter into smaller seeker projectiles.
Class Ability – Healing Rift, Conjure a well of power that continuously heals those inside it.
Melee – Pocket Singularity, Launch an unstable ball of Void energy that detonates when it nears a target, pushing them away from the blast and making them volatile.
Grenade – Vortex Grenade, A grenade that creates a Vortex that pulls targets inward and continually damages those trapped inside.
Aspects
Feed the Void – Defeat a target with any ability to activate Devour. This gives us a good amount of health, plus an almost infinite stream of grenades.
Chaos Accelerant – Overcharge your grenade, making it deadlier and more effective. Vortex Grenade: Increases the size and linger duration of the vortex.
Fragments
Echo of Undermining – Your Void grenades weaken targets.
Echo of Expulsion – Void ability final blows cause targets to explode.
Echo of Remnants – Your lingering grenade effects (Vortex Grenade, Void Wall, Void Spike, and Axion Bolt) have increased duration.
Echo of Instability – Defeating targets with grenades grants Volatile Rounds to your Void weapons.
Weapons
Primary – Mint Retrograde (Rocket Pulse Rifle)
Mint Retrograde is a Legendary Kinetic Pulse Rifle with a Rocket-Assisted Frame meaning the weapon fires self-propelled rocket ammunition. Projectiles explode on impact for high damage.
To get Mint Retrograde you’ll want to run Pinnacle Ops, and you can find Pinnacles Ops via The Portal. Mint Retrograde is part of the rewards pool for Pinnacle Ops, and it’s a random drop throughout the activity, plus once you defeat the final boss.
Energy – Third Iteration (Exotic Scout Rifle)
Third Iteration is an Exotic Energy Scout Rifle and comes with the perk Tri-Planar Mass Driver and Amalgamation Rounds.
Tri-Planar Mass Driver – Fires a spread of Void energy projectiles. Aiming down sights narrows the spread.
Amalgamation Rounds – Aiming down sights for a short period without firing compresses the spread into a single high-density projectile. Damaging a target with this shot marks them. This weapon deals additional damage to marked targets. Defeating a marked target or landing a precision final blow with an Amalgamation Round grants invisibility and truesight.
You can get this from the Season pass in the Edge of Fate. In the future, most likely the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower.
Power – Hammerhead (Machine Gun)
Hammerhead is a Legendary Power Machine Gun which is an Adaptive Frame meaning it has a well-rounded grip, reliable and sturdy. You can get this weapon from Xur.
