This Balance of Power Prismatic Hunter Build is going to help you create multiple threadlings, allow you to control the battlefield plus you’re going to have great damage and increased survivability too. Today I am going to check out why this build is good, plus we’re going to put the build together so you can use it in Destiny 2.
Why this build is good
This Destiny 2 Hunter build focuses on synergy between Strand Threadlings, melee combat, and ability regeneration. At its core is the exotic leg armor Balance of Power, which enhances the Threaded Specter decoy by increasing its duration and durability. When damaged, the decoy spawns additional Threadlings, providing significant add-clear potential. A key bonus is radar invisibility while near the decoy, giving you stealth advantages, especially useful in both PvE and PvP.
The subclass combines Void and Strand abilities for a versatile toolkit. The Shadowshot Deadfall Super tethers and suppresses groups of enemies, aiding team control, while Combination Blow and Gambler’s Dodge create a feedback loop of melee kills, healing, and class ability regeneration. The Grapple grenade adds mobility and an explosive AOE melee effect that unravels enemies, boosting both crowd control and synergy with Strand weapons. The build’s aspects — Threaded Specter and Winter’s Shroud — reinforce distraction and debuff mechanics, with the former tying directly into the exotic’s perk.
The chosen Fragments fuel constant ability uptime and provide offensive and defensive buffs. You’ll gain energy for melee and grenades based on Light and Darkness kills, become Radiant with powered melee hits, earn Unraveling Rounds for your Strand weapons, and frequently trigger Transcendence for burst power spikes. Picking up Orbs of Power also grants randomized buffs like Woven Mail, Overshield, or Restoration, increasing your survivability.
Weapon-wise, the build uses Hatchling Strand weapons like Mirror Imago, which spawn Threadlings on precision kills to enhance the build’s main mechanic. The exotic fusion rifle Tessellation adapts its element to match your subclass, giving you grenade energy on kills and offering an alternate powerful AOE attack. A tracking rocket launcher, Crowning Duologue, rounds out the loadout for boss or burst damage.
Armor mods are centered around Orb generation and usage, enabling a constant flow of healing, buffs, and ability regeneration. Mods like Reaper, Heavy Handed, and Strand Siphon help spawn Orbs, while Recuperation, Strand Surge, and Powerful Attraction ensure you’re getting health, damage, and convenience from picking them up. Ammo mods further support Strand weapon uptime and team utility.
This build excels at controlling the battlefield, maintaining high survivability, and cycling abilities constantly, with a strong emphasis on mobility, crowd control, and passive damage via Threadlings. It’s excellent for add-heavy PvE content and offers useful PvP stealth tools, with damage buffs and healing ensuring strong performance across most endgame activities.
Gameplay loop
The gameplay loop for this Hunter Prismatic Strand build with Balance of Power revolves around mobility, melee kills, decoy manipulation, and Threadling spam to maintain ability uptime, damage buffs, and survivability. Here’s how the loop works in practical play:
- Start with Dodge
- Use Combination Blow to Chain Melee Kills
- Create and Detonate Decoys for Threadlings
- Grapple into Enemies for AoE and Unravel
- Use Weapons with Hatchling and Buffs
- Maintain the Loop
- Use Super for Big Control Moments
Dodge ➜ spawn decoy ➜ melee kill ➜ heal & regen dodge ➜ trigger more decoy ➜ Threadlings flood ➜ grapple in ➜ unravel enemies ➜ use Hatchling weapons ➜ collect orbs ➜ repeat
This loop keeps you constantly empowered, hard to pin down, and always outputting passive and active damage via Strand and Void synergies.
Exotic Armor
Balance of Power
Balance of Power are Exotic Hunter Leg Armor with the perk Double Down.
Double Down – Your Threaded Specter has increased duration and durability, and damaging it releases additional Threadlings. While near your Threaded Specter, you do not appear on radar.
Get this armour from Mastere Rahool in the Tower.
Prismatic Subclass Setup
Super – Shadowshot Deadfall, Tether foes to a Void Anchor, weakening and suppressing them for you and your allies. The Void Anchors fired from Shadowshot pull targets toward the impact point, which then become traps and wait for prey. Void Anchors have increased range and last longer.
Class ability – Gambler’s Dodge, Dodge to perform a deft tumble, avoiding enemy attacks. Dodging near enemies fully recharges your Melee Ability.
Melee – Combination Blow, A quick strike that temporarily increases your melee damage when defeating a target, stacking three times. Defeating targets with this ability also fully refills your class ability energy and restores a small amount of health.
Grenade – Grapple, Weave a grappling hook, and quickly pull yourself forward. Grappling to a Tangle immediately recharges your grenade energy. During and shortly after grappling, your melee attack deals area damage and unravels targets.
Aspects
Threaded Specter – Activating your class ability leaves behind a decoy woven from Strand matter that draws the attention of nearby combatants. After taking significant damage or when combatants approach, the decoy detonates, dealing damage and releasing Threadlings that seek out and attack nearby foes.
Winter’s Shroud – Dodging slows nearby targets. Slowing targets briefly increases your class ability regeneration.
Fragments
Facet of Balance – Rapidly defeating targets with Light damage grants melee energy. Rapidly defeating targets with Darkness damage grants grenade energy.
Facet of Bravery – Defeating targets with powered melee final blows grants Unraveling Rounds to your Strand weapons.
Facet of Dawn – Powered melee hits against targets makes you radiant. Powered melee final blows make you and nearby allies radiant.
Facet of Devotion – Defeating targets afflicted with Stasis or Strand debuffs grants bonus Light Transcendence energy.
Facet of Honor – Collecting an elemental pickup or destroying a Tangle grants Transcendence energy of the same type.
Facet of Purpose – Picking up an Orb of Power grants either Bolt Charge, Restoration, Frost Armor, Woven Mail, or Overshield based on the damage type of your equipped Super.
Weapons
For our weapons you want to optimise for threadlings with the Hatchling perk. I’ve selected a couple of my strand weapons here with Hatchling, but you can mix and match to what you have available in your vault.
Mirror Imago
Mirror Imago is a Legendary Kinetic Submachine Gun with an Adaptive Frame meaning it has a well-rounded grip, reliable and sturdy.
To get Mirror Imago you’ll want to take part in Episode Heresy activities like The Nether and Courts of Blades. If you’re watching this after The Edge of Fate releases then check Banshee-44 and Xur, plus activities via The Portal.
Tesselation
Tesselation is an exotic fusion rifle
Undecidable – This weapon adapts its damage type to match your equipped subclass. Final blows grant grenade energy.
Irreducible – Consume your grenade to load a large projectile that generates an elemental explosion on impact.
The Undecidable perk is what makes this one very unique. Given the weapon can match the element of the subclass, this means you can run a full stasis or strand build for the very first time, with this being in the energy slot. You can get this from the Monuments to Lost Lights in the Tower, under The Final Shape exotics section.
Crowning Duologue
Crowning Duologue is a Legendary Power Rocket Launcher with a Precision Frame meaning the weapon fires a small auto-tracking missile. Missiles lock onto targets when aimed.
To get this rocket launcher you’ll want to take part in Solstice. Solstice is free for all players, so you should be able to select the activity from the tower and jump right in. The Crowning Duologue is a random drop from the end of the activity.
