This could be the ultimate Warlock Solar 3.0 build in Season of the Haunted and beyond. I’m going to be pairing the new exotic boots, Rain of Fire, with Vex Mythoclast, to create a damage focused Warlock capable of tearing through pretty much anything that is stupid enough to get in your way. This is going to be great for endgame PvE content, Dungeons, Raids, plus soloing hard PVE content. Today I am going to check out the build, the Solar 3.0 setup, the weapons, armour and mods, plus put it all together so you can too.
This is a very fun build made possible by a combination of the new exotic boots, Rain of Fire, plus already one of the best exotic weapons in the game, the Vex Mythoclast. With the introduction of the Rain of Fire boots, they make you radiant when you get final blows with Fusion rifles. Vex is classed as a Fusion rifle, plus it uses Primary ammo, meaning you have an unlimited source of Radiant effects you can apply to yourself, which will give you a 25% damage buff. We’re also going to combine this with Elemental Wells and Charged with Light mods for even more damage and this is going to allow you to shred through all enemies, allowing you to get to that endgame loot faster than ever before.
If you want a quick version of the build then it’s a Solar Warlock, Rain of Fire Boots and Vex Mythoclast. Everything else is a personal preference. Later I’m going to get into the detail of the build, but first I’m going to check out how we get those Exotic boots.
How to get Rain of Fire
Rain of Fire is one of the newer Exotic pieces of armour introduced in Season of the Haunted. Previous to Beyond Light and these newer armour pieces being introduced, Exotic armour was acquired at random through Exotic engrams or campaign story content.
Now, there’s a way to target farm Exotic armour pieces through Legend and Master Lost Sectors. If you complete these activities solo, then there’s a chance at the Exotic armour to drop for you. Every day the Legend and Master Lost Sectors rotate, with two available each day across the planets and moons.
As well as the location for Legend and Master Lost Sectors rotating, the rewards rotate too with different armour pieces for the head, arms, chest, and legs. If you want to check the location and the rewards, then you can do so in-game by completing the Lost Sectors on the regular difficulty, and then check on the map. The Legend and Master Lost sectors are indicated as a blue shield icon. Another good way to check is a great tool called todayindestiny.com. This will quickly tell you what the location is, plus what the reward is.
To get Rain of Fire, you want to look out for the Exotic Legs Reward. Then if you complete the Legend or Master Lost Sector Solo as a Warlock, you’ll have a chance for that reward. If you don’t get it the first time, keep trying and you’ll get it after a few tries.
Solar 3.0
Grenade: Fusion
Class ability: Healing Rift
Super: Well of Radiance
Aspects
Touch of Flame – Your Healing, Solar, Firebolt, and Fusion Grenades have enhanced functionality. Healing Grenade has improved cure and restoration, Solar Grenade increases linger duration and fires blobs of lava, Firebolt Grenade increases target search radius and count, and Fusion Grenade explodes twice.
Icarus Dash – Dodge quickly while airborne. While Heat Rises is active, you have an additional dodge. A golden feather, drifting in the wind. One gust carries you where you need to go.
Fragments
- Ember of Solace – Radiant and Restoration effects applied to you have increased duration.
- Ember of Tempering – Solar weapon final blows grant you and your allies increased recovery for a short duration. Stacks three times. While Ember of Tempering is active, your weapons have increased airborne effectiveness.
- Ember of Blistering – Defeating targets with Solar ignitions grants grenade energy.
- Ember of Ashes – You apply more scorch stacks to targets.
The Solar 3.0 setup is down to personal preference. I’m building for healing when it comes to my Super and Class ability, given I’m using this build for endgame content to help me get out of trouble when I need to. Ember of Solace is good because this is going to make my Radiant effect last longer, meaning more of the 25% damage buff from the Radiant effects granted by using a combination of Vex and the exotic boots. Tempering is good because I’m mainly using Solar weapons, so the final blows are going to make me radiant through Vex, and also give me and my allies increased recovery.
Exotic Armour
For this build, we’re focusing on Rain of Fire.
Soaring Fusilier – Air dodge reloads all of your weapons and improves the airborne effectiveness of Fusion Rifles and Linear Fusion Rifles; final blows with these weapons make you radiant.
The perk on these boots is great, given we’re going to be using Vex Mythoclast as our main weapon. That uses Primary ammo, meaning you have infinite shots. Fusion Rifle final blows are going to make us radiant, and that means giving ourselves a 25% damage buff. We’re going to be constantly getting final blows with Vex Mythoclast, therefore we’re going to be radiant all the time. This is going to allow us to tear through enemies, making PVE content much easier, and allowing you to get to those rewards faster.
Weapons
Kinetic – New Purpose
You can use anything in your Kinetic slot, although I’m using New Purpose, the Duality Dungeon Pulse Rifle. This is because I want to go into endgame PVE, and a Pulse Rifle is going to help me with Barrier Champions this season when combined with the Anti-Barrier Mod. If you’re not looking to kill champions, then you can use anything you like here.
Energy – Vex Mythoclast
In the energy slot, we’re using the Vex Mythoclast
- Timeless Mythoclast – This weapon fires full auto when in its default firing mode.
- Temporal Unlimiter – Defeating targets builds stacks of Overcharge. Swap firing modes when fully Overcharged. In alternative firing mode, hold the trigger to charge up and fire more powerful linear fusion shots.
Get this one from the Vault of Glass Raid from the boss at the end. Be aware though, it’s a super rare drop!
Power – Threaded Needle
This is a great Linear Fusion Rifle, plus mine has Vorpal Weapon. This is also going to work with Soaring Fusilier on our boots, making us radiant and giving us that 25% damage increase.
Mods
I am using a combination of Elemental Well and Charged with Light mods. What we’re doing here is supercharging our damage output, which is already decent because of the radiant effect.
- Elemental Ordnance – Defeating a combatant with a grenade spawns an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type.
- Elemental Armaments – Combatant weapon final blows with a damage type that matches your subclass element have an escalating chance to spawn an elemental well.
- Font of Might – Picking up an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type grants a temporary bonus to weapon damage of that same elemental type.
- Quick Charge – Become Charged with Light by rapidly defeating multiple combatants with Fusion Rifles or Shotguns.
- High-energy Fire – While Charged with Light, gain a bonus to weapon damage. Each defeated combatant consumes one stack of Charged with Light.
High-energy fire is going to give you a 20% damage buff. Radiant is already a 25% damage buff increase. Radiant and high-energy fire stacks, plus you’ve got Font of Might in there too, meaning your damage output is going to melt anything that gets in your way.
Let me know what you think of the build in the comments, and if you have any improvements, share them with the community.
