Glaives are a load of fun and today I am going to focus on a Warlock Void Build with the Glaive front and centre. I’ll be picking some weapons, exotic armour and mods and putting them all together, so you can run around Destiny 2 like a stabby space wizard causing mayhem as you go.
There are two main focuses of the build; The Glaive and Grenades. In my book, Glaives are pretty underrated, and they are also a hell of a lot of fun. They may not be in the best spot in the game right now, but that didn’t stop me from playing most of the campaign and post-campaign with my trusty Glaive. Today I wanted to feature the glaive in a build and elevate it with mods and exotics, to see what we can create.
The Glaive’s damage output is already pretty impressive, but I am going to be adding to it with Elemental Well mods like Font of Might, and Suppressing Glaive. The Exotic that brings this all together is Verity’s Brow, which is going to increase grenade damage, and we’re going to be throwing a lot of grenades. Our grenades are going to recharge nice and fast, as well as our teammates too.
The Glaive is going to be activating a couple of Void 3.0 fragments too, namely Echo of Exchange and Echo of Leeching. Melee final blows are going to grant grenade energy (Echo Of Exchange), meaning our Glaive is going to be fueling our grenades too, then we have melee final blows start health regeneration for us and our allies, through Echo of Leeching our Glaive kills are going to help heal us and teammates as well as providing grenade energy.
Glaive Warlock Void 3.0 Build in Destiny 2
Let’s look at the build in more detail.
Exotic Armour
I’m using Verity’s Brow. This comes with the perk The Fourth Magic – Weapon final blows with a damage type matching your subclass energy grant Death Throes, which provides a grenade damage bonus and grants you grenade energy. When you have Death Throes and throw a grenade, nearby allies gain greatly increased grenade regeneration for a short time.
This is going to work great with our Glaive build, given we’re using a void energy glaive on a void subclass, meaning Death Throes is going to be active a lot. You’re going to boost your grenade regen as well as your fireteam’s grenades too.
If you wanted to switch things up with the Exotics then you can also check out Nezarec’s Sin, which comes with the perk Abyssal Extractors – Void-damage kills increase ability energy recharge rate.
Subclass
- Class Ability – Healing Rift
- Super – Any
- Grenade – Vortex Grenade
- Melee – Pocket Singularity
Aspects
Child of the Old Gods – Cast your Rift to summon a Void Soul. When you damage an enemy with your weapon, your Void Soul will launch itself towards them and detonate nearby, attaching draining tendrils, which deal damage and weaken the target. When your Void Soul deals damage, it restores either melee and grenade energy (if running Healing Rift) or health (if running Empowering Rift) back to you. Defeating an enemy who is being drained grants Rift energy.
Feed the Void – Defeat a target with a Void ability to activate Devour. While Devour is active, final blows restore health and extend Devour.
Fragments
- Echo of Expulsion – Void ability kills cause enemies to explode; Intellect bonus.
- Echo of Undermining – Void grenades weaken enemies; Discipline penalty.
- Echo of Exchange – Melee final blows grant grenade energy. IMPORTANT The glaive will proc this
- Echo of Leeching – Melee final blows start health regeneration for you and nearby allies. IMPORTANT The glaive will proc this
Weapons
Kinetic – Outbreak Perfected
This is an exotic kinetic pulse rifle. Still one of the best in the game, but you can swap out any weapon here really. I like Outbreak Perfected because it’s solid in many situations. You can get this one from the Exotic Kiosk in the tower.
Energy – The Enigma
This is the main focus of our build, the Glaive.
Power – Threaded Needle
This is a decent void power weapon with range, which is going to be needed given the close range for more of our play with the glaive.
Mods
- Unstoppable Glaive – Glaives you wield fire a powerful explosive payload that stuns unshielded combatants.
- Volatile Flow – Picking up a Void elemental well grants your Void weapons Volatile rounds.
- Overload Grenades – Void grenades disrupt combatants, stunning them, delaying ability energy regeneration and lowering combatant damage output. Strong against [Disruption] Overload Champions.
- Supressing Glaive – Damaging combatants with your Glaive suppresses them, preventing them from using abilities for a short time.
- Font of Might – Picking up an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type grants a temporary bonus to weapon damage of that same elemental type.
- Elemental Ordnance – Defeating a combatant with a grenade spawns an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type.
- Well of Tenacity – Picking up a Void elemental well reduces the damage you take from combatants for a short period of time.
- Bountiful Wells – Elemental well mods that cause you to spawn elemental wells can now stack, spawning additional wells for each additional copy of the mod you have equipped.
Let me know in the comments what you think of the build, and if you’ve got any improvements.
