Resources in ARC Raiders are tough to come by. Every failed extraction hurts, not just because you lose your loot… but because you’re suddenly way less prepared for the next run.
But there’s hope — and it comes in the form of the most unlikely little hero: Scrappy the Rooster.
This bird is a total game-changer once you train him up, but to do that, you’re gonna need one specific item — a Dog Collar. So let’s break down where to find one, and why it’s worth the effort.
How to Get a Dog Collar
Dog Collars are tagged as Residential loot, which means you’ll want to focus your scavenging on areas marked with the Residential tag.
They’re rare, so don’t expect one every run — but you can definitely boost your odds. Check every drawer, every shelf, and every corner of those houses and apartments.
And if you really want to push your luck, try doing a Night Raid.
These missions are tougher — more enemies, more danger — but they also have way higher chances of spawning rare loot like Dog Collars.
Just make sure you’re stocked up on ammo, shields, and supplies before diving in.
Dog Collar Locations
Now, where exactly should you be looking?
If you’re exploring the Buried City, your best bets are:
Grandioso Apartments
Santa Maria Houses
Red Tower
Over in The Blue Gate, check out:
Ruined Homestead
Raider’s Refuge
The Village
And here’s a little bonus tip — even though Dog Collars are technically Residential items, some players (including us) have found them in high-value loot spots like the Research & Administration building in the Dam Battlegrounds. So it’s always worth poking around there too.
What It’s Used For
So, what do you actually do with a Dog Collar once you’ve got one?
Simple — you use it to train Scrappy.
You’ll need at least one Dog Collar to upgrade him to Level 2, which means better rewards every time you successfully extract from a run.
Plus, Dog Collars are rare and valuable, so if you happen to grab extras, they’re great to sell for currency you can use on weapons, upgrades, or crafting.
Once you’ve safely extracted with one, head back to the Workshop, find Scrappy, hit Train, and watch your loot game level up.
So yeah — keep your eyes peeled in Residential zones, consider doing a Night Raid if you’re feeling brave, and make sure Scrappy gets that Dog Collar upgrade.
Because in ARC Raiders, every little advantage counts — and sometimes, the key to surviving the apocalypse… is a rooster in a collar.
