The MIDA Mini-Tool is back in Destiny 2 with Ash & Iron. This is one of the most opoular OG weapons in Destiny, then we had the Calus Mini Tool, but now we have the original MIDA Mini-Tool back and it’s better than ever. Today I’m going to check out the stats, perks, god rolls, plus how to get MIDA Mini-Tool in Destiny 2.
How to get MIDA Mini-Tool
You can get the MIDA Mini-Tool from Portal activities; specifically Solo Ops and Fireteam Ops. You may also have some luck in Ash & Iron activities like Reclaim. MIDA Mini-Tool can also be a featured weapon on the Portal, so keep an eye on the Portal for the featured weapons to make it easier to get.
MIDA Mini-Tool
MIDA Mini-Tool is a Legendary Energy Submachine Gun that comes with MIDA Synergy that means superb handling. Move faster with this weapon equipped. When MIDA Multi-Tool is equipped, this weapon grants additional speed benefits and final blows grant modification progress to MIDA Multi-Tool. Looking at the stats Impact 15, Range 30, Stability 49, Handling 65, Reload Speed 31, Rounds Per Minute 900, Magazine 42.
The Origin Traits are Vanguard Determination and Roar of the Battle. First we have Vanguard Determination, after using your class ability, final blows with this weapon grant you bonus damage resistance. Then we also have Roar of the Battle, Being in combat for a short duration increases handling and stability.
The MIDA Mini-Tool remains one of the premier PvE SMGs in Destiny 2, thanks to its outstanding Solar perk synergy. In PvP, however, it loses much of its shine and becomes far less threatening.
When it comes to archetype comparisons, the Mini-Tool sits alongside Yeartide Apex, both falling into the Lightweight frame category (with the Mini-Tool benefiting from unique MIDA synergy). While Yeartide Apex leans into perk variety for PvE builds, the Mini-Tool doubles down on reliability with the tried-and-true combo of Heal Clip + Incandescent—further boosted by its superior origin trait, Vanguard’s Determination.
On the PvP side, the perk pool feels heavily PvE-oriented. Lacking strong dueling perks like Target Lock or Rangefinder, the weapon doesn’t bring much to the Crucible beyond niche use. That said, it can still function as a close-quarters fallback with Hip-Fire Grip, while perks like Master of Arms or Aggregate Charge provide occasional damage spikes.
