One of the most beloved shaders has returned in Destiny 2, thanks to Into The Light. Today I’m going to run through how to get that all-black look for your Guardian, otherwise known as Superblack in Destiny 2.

Into the Light is all about nostalgia, and powering up our Guardians for the Final Shape. We’ve has 12 classic weapons brought back, 2 Exotic missions, plus Pantheon, the raid boss gauntlet mode. We’ve also had the Superblack shader brought back to us, which allows out Guardians to wear the all black look for the first time in Destiny 2.
Back in Destiny 1 we could get this shader through Festival of the Lost. This time we have to complete a couple of requirements related to Into The Light to get hold of Superblack.
How to get Superblack
You can find Superblack at the back of the Hall of Champions, and it’s contained inside a big glass tube, similar to the symbiote from Venom. However, between you and the shader is a door and you are going to need 2 keys to unlock the door. One is held by Lord Shaxx, the other is held by Arcite. Both are standing in the Hall of Champions, so lets look into how to get these keys.
How to get Shaxx’s alpha key
To get Shaxx’s key you’ll need to rank up with Lord Shaxx to Level 17 and max out his rewards track. This means playing a whole lot of Onslaught, the horde mode associated with Into The Light. Shaxx has bounties so make sure to pick them up to gain even more reputation. It’s a good idea to play the Onslaught mode and get as far as possible, getting to level 50 in normal or legend will help you rank up faster. Arcite also has bounties, and these will reward more XP to help you level up even faster. Once you have levelled up to max rank, then speak to Shaxx and you’ll get the key.
How to get Arcite 99-40’s omega key
To get the second key you’ll need to complete all the weapon quests from Arcite. There are 12 weapon quests in total, and this means getting kills with a weapon of the same family. For example, if you are going after Luna’s Howl, then you’ll need to get hand cannon kills around the system. You get more progress in Onslaught, however, I would recommend solo activities because otherwise Guardians in your fireteam will be able to steal your kills, slowing down your progress. Therefore I recommend the Shuro Chi location in the Last Wish Raid, or the start of Graspf of Avarice Dungeon on the Cosmodrome. As an added bonus you’ll get Shaxx reputation for each quest completion, so by completing these arcite quests, you’ll be ranking up with Shaxx too helping you get that first key faster.
Once you complete all 12 quests, you’ll get the second key, and then you’ll be able to open the container behind Lord Shaxx in the Hall of Champions, and finally Superblack will be yours.
As far as I know Superblack is going away when The Final Shape arrives on 4th June, so make sure to get it before then. It may return in the future, but we don’t know when that will be, so get it while its here.
