The Final Shape is only around the coner and we’re about to head into the heart of the Traveler and take on The Witness. However, you are going to need some great loot to take your enemies, and today I’d like to run down the top 10 best weapons to get for Destiny 2 The Final Shape.
If you find this useful, then subscribe for more Destiny 2 content, plus don’t forget to hit the notifications to never miss an update.
Without further delay, lets dive into the weapons. I’ve picked out the top 5 PVP weapons and the top 5 PVE weapons, plus we have a mix of Legendary and Exotic weapons here, plus how to get them all.
PVP
Ace of Spades
Ace of Spades is an exotic hand cannon introduced in Destiny 2: Forsaken. Ace of Spades is the trusty Hand Cannon of Cayde-6, and was built specifically for him by Banshee-44. The gun is taken by Uldren Sov during the story events of Forsaken before being reclaimed by the Guardian.
- Memento Mori – Reloading after a kill loads magazine with a few extra-damage bullets. Grants radar while aiming down sights.
- Firefly – Precision kills with this weapon increase reload speed and cause the target to explode, dealing Solar damage to nearby enemies.
To get Ace of Spades you can buy this from the Exotic Kiosk in the Tower, which you can find next to the Vault and it’s called Monument to Lost Lights.
Matador 64
Matador 64 is a Legendary Energy Shotgun that deals Arc damage with a Precision Frame meaning this weapon’s recoil pattern is more predictably vertical. This is a great shotgun for PVP, it always has been since D1.
To get this Shotgun it’s a random drop from the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon, which is part of the paid content in Bungie’s 30th Anniversary pack. You want to farm the first boss encounter in the Dungeon, called Phry’Zhia The Insatiable and it’s a random drop from this boss.
Luna’s Howl
To get this one you’ll want to play Onslaught and it’s a random drop from that activity. If you play legendary difficulty then it’s more likely you’ll get double perks, and more chance for the god roll. If you’re looking to get this before the Final Shape, then there’s a quest available from the Hall of Champions to help you target farm Luna’s Howl. If you’re playing this after the Final Shape releases, then you’ll have to get lucky playing Onslaught.
Thorn
Thorn is an Exotic Kinetic Hand Cannon with some excellent exotic perks including.
- Mark of the Devourer – Rounds pierce targets and deal damage over time. Kills with this weapon leave behind Remnants.
- Soul Devourer – Absorbing a Remnant strengthens Mark of the Devourer and partially refills the magazine.
You can get this from the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower. Then to get the catalyst, you’ll want to play vanguard ops, crucible or gambit and it’s a random drop from the end of matches. It shouldn’t take long for you to get it.
Conditional Finality
Conditional Finality is an Exotic Kinetic Shotgun.
The exotic perks and traits are as follows:
- Split Decision – Dual barrels split into Stasis and Solar damage
Paracausal Pellets – Landing nearly all Stasis pellets will freeze targets; landing nearly all Solar pellets will ignite targets. - Conditional Finality is a dual element weapon, dealing stasis and solar damage. It has two shots in the magazine; the first one is a stasis shot and the second one is a solar shot. The exotic perk Paracausal Pellets takes this one up a level, as hitting all shots on either round will either freeze or ignite enemies.
To get Conditional Finality you’ll need to beat the final boss in the Root of Nightmares Raid, and that’s Nezarec – The Final God of Pain. You have an approximate 3% chance of the weapon dropping for you, and you’ll have 3 chances per week to get the weapon. Or you can wait for when the Root of Nightmares is the featured dungeon and farm the final boss.
PVE
Edge Transit
Edge Transit is a Legendary Power Grenade Launcher with an Adaptive Frame meaning it’s a well-rounded grip, reliable and sturdy. The origin trait is Indomitability. This provides a 2.5% ability energy from weapon final blows, determined by your chosen subclass. Light subclasses get grenade energy and dark subclasses get melee energy. To get this one you’ll want to take part in the Onslaught activity, and it’s a random drop.
- Cascade Point – Final blows or sustained precision hits with another weapon increase this weapon’s rate of fire for a short duration.
- Bait and Switch – Deal damage with all equipped weapons within a short time to give this weapon a damage boost.
The Mountaintop
The Mountaintop is a Legendary Kinetic Grenade Launcher with a Micro-Missile Frame meaning this weapon fires a high-speed projectile in a straight line and deals reduced self-damage. Move faster with this weapon equipped. The origin trait here is Indomitability where final blows grant grenade energy when playing a Light subclass or melee energy when playing a Darkness subclass.
- Auto-Loading Holster – The holstered weapon is automatically reloaded after a short period of time.
- Vorpal Weapon – Increased damage against bosses, vehicles, and Guardians with their Super active.
To get this grenade launcher you can play Onslaught, which you can access via the Into The Light node from the Director. Mountaintop is a random drop after the boss phase for each 10 waves completed.
You can also turn in currency, Trophies of Bravery, which are acquired through Onslaught and other activities in Destiny 2. Turn in 10 and you’ll get a random weapon, which could be Mountaintop. You can find this chest to the left of Shaxx in the Hall of Heroes.
You can also pick up a quest for Mountaintop from Arcite, he’s next to Shaxx, and by completing this quest you’ll get a curated version of Mountaintop. This includes getting Grenade Launcher kills around the system, and it doesn’t take very long to complete, I recommend either the Shuro Chi location in the Last Wish raid, or the start of the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon. Take out your favourite grenade launcher and get those kills.
Dragon’s Breath
This is an Exotic Rocket Launcher. Let’s have a look at the weapon in a little more detail.
Burn the World (Exotic Intrinsic)
The fuel counter passively increases the longer you go without firing it, to a maximum of x5. Firing Dragon’s Breath then empties this counter, transferring all fuel to the rocket.
Rockets then embed themselves in struck targets causing Scorch damage and periodically ejecting incendiary fuel into pools around the target that inflict Scorch damage to anyone standing in them. The more fuel a rocket is fired with, the longer it lasts before detonating and the more fire it spreads.
High Octane (Exotic Intrinsic)
With this Intrinsic, nearby ignitions instantly refill your Dragon’s Breath with 2 fuel. Plus, when its fuel fully refills, it reloads itself!
Once you’ve got this thing in hand, make sure to pay a visit to the Gunsmith in the Tower so you can get the quest for the Exotic catalyst. Speaking of which…
Pyromancer (Exotic Catalyst)
This catalyst passively replenishes your Dragon Breath’s fuel faster. Eliminating combatants with this weapon causes them to spawn Firesprites, too. To get the catalyst you’ll want to pick this uo from Banshee-44. You’ll need to get the weapon from the season pass before you go to Banshee-44.
Dragon’s Breath is available from the season pass rewards track. If you have paid for the season pass you’ll be able to unlock it instantly, but if you are a free to play player, then you’ll be able to unlock it at rank 35. Therefore you don’t have to pay for the season to get hold of Dragon’s Breath, it’s available for everyone, but you will have to work for it and get 35 ranks if you play for free.
Indebted Kindness
Indebted Kindness is a Legendary Energy Sidearm with a Rocket-Assisted Frame means sidearm fires self-propelled rocket ammunition. Projectiles explode on impact for high damage.
This one has the Origin Trait Sundering which means destroying vehicles and constructs grants this weapon bonus reload speed and charge rate. Constructs include barricades, turrets, Stasis crystals, and other objects created in the field.
For PVE Quick Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, Impulse Amplifier, Voltshot and Velocity Masterwork would be good. For PVP Quick Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, Impulse Amplifier, Adagio and Velocity Masterwork would be good.
Sunshot
Sunshot is the only 150 rpm hand cannon left in the game, plus it’s an Exotic Energy Hand Cannon. Let’s check out the gun itself.
- Sunburn – This weapon fires explosive rounds and highlights targets that take damage from Sunshot.
- Sun Blast – Targets killed with Sunshot explode in Solar energy.
You can get this exotic hand cannon from Xur.
