How to get Luna’s Howl (Legendary Hand Cannon) plus god roll guide in Destiny 2

Luna’s Howl has returned to Destiny 2 with Into The Light. This was a PVP monster back in the day, and had a very long quest to go along with it. Worry not, because getting Luna’s Howl is much easier these days and today I’m going to check out the stats, perks, god rolls plus how to get Luna’s Howl in Destiny 2.

How to get Luna’s Howl

To get this one you’ll want to play Onslaught and it’s a random drop from that activity. If you play legendary difficulty then it’s more likely you’ll get double perks, and more chance for the god roll.

If you want to target farm Luna’s Howl, then pick up the quest from Arcite in the Hall of Champions and complete that. It’s relatively quick, you’ll have to get machine gun kills and I recommend the Shuro Chi location in the Last Wish raid to get it done quickly. Once you complete this quest, you’ll be able to attune Luna’s Howl which increases your drop chance by 50%, from the chest next to Shaxx plus drops in Onslaught.

Luna’s Howl

Luna’s Howl is a Legendary Energy Hand Cannon with a Precision Frame meaning the recoil pattern on this weapon is more predictably vertical. Fires quickly with high accuracy. Looking at the stats Impact 84, Range 41, Stability 57, Handling 45, Reload Speed 54, Airborne Effectiveness 20, Rounds Per Minute 140 and Magazine 10.

The origin trait here is Indomitability where final blows grant grenade energy when playing a Light subclass or melee energy when playing a Darkness subclass.

Luna’s Howl god roll guide

For PVE Heal Clip and Incandescent is going to be your best combination.

  • Heal Clip – Reloading shortly after dealing a final blow grants Cure to you and your nearby allies.
  • Incandescent – Defeating a target spreads scorch to those nearby. More powerful combatants and opposing Guardians cause scorch in a larger radius.

Luna’s Howl was a great PVP weapon last time it was available in the game, although this time it has some good options too. It’s a solar hand cannon, coming into a very solar friendly sandbox (at the time of making this guide). While sunshot is king, that’s an exotic and the next best thing is either Zaouli’s Bane or Epochal Integration.

Heal Clip is excellent and grants Cure x2 for your Guardian and Cure x1 for your allies. This is great in PVE content like master and grandmaster content, plus raids and dungeons. Incandescent applies scorch stacks until enemies explode, always good in PVE.

For PVP Eye of the Storm and Magnificent Howl would be a good combination.

  • Eye of the Storm – This weapon becomes more accurate and boosts handling as your health gets lower.
  • Magnificent Howl – The number of precision final blows before reloading affects the total rounds granted with increased range and damage. Precision final blows with Magnificent Howl active extend the effect for additional rounds.

Magnificent Howl has seen a huge rework, so it may not be the gun you remember. Now the more Precision shots you land before reloading, the more rounds you will be getting with increased range and damage. Eye of the Storm ensures you get buffs like Handling and Accuracy when your shield drops. Magnificent Howl requiring stability to land headshots, and Eye of the Storm providing that makes this the perfect combination.

Let me know in the comments what you think of the returned Luna’s Howl.
