Destiny 2’s weapon meta is constantly shifting and changing, so now is a great time to stock up on the best weapons as we go into 2025. Today I’m going to go through the top 10 weapons the community is using right now, so you can be ready for the new year in style in Destiny 2.

Sunshot (Exotic Hand Cannon)
Sunshot is the only 150 rpm hand cannon left in the game, plus it’s an Exotic Energy Hand Cannon. Let’s check out the gun itself.
Sunburn – This weapon fires explosive rounds and highlights targets that take damage from Sunshot.
Sun Blast – Targets killed with Sunshot explode in Solar energy.
You can get this exotic hand cannon from Xur.
Stay Frosty (Legendary Pulse Rifle)
Stay Frosty is a kinetic stasis pulse rifle with a lightweight frame, meaning surperb handling and you move faster with the weapon equipped.
For PVE Tunnel Vision and Headstone would be good.
- Tunnel Vision – Reloading after defeating a target greatly increases target acquisition and aim down sight speed for a short duration.
- Headstone – Precision final blows spawn a Stasis crystal at the victim’s location.
You can get this while the Dawning event is available (e.g. right now)
The Call (Legendary Rocket Sidearm)
The Call is a Legendary Strand Sidearm with a Rocket-Assisted Frame meaning the sidearm fires self-propelled rocket ammunition. Projectiles explode on impact for high damage. The Origin Trait here is Dealer’s Choice. Final blows with this weapon grant a small amount of Super energy. Equipping multiple weapons from the Pale Heart increases this effect.
For PVE Quick Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, Lead From Gold, Desperate Measures and Velocity Masterwork
- Lead From Gold – Picking up Heavy ammo also grants ammo to this weapon.
- Desperate Measures – Weapon final blows grant bonus damage. Melee and grenade final blows grant a larger damage bonus that can stack.
The Call is a weapon tied to The Pale Heart of the Traveler. Completing activities in this area will help you get the weapon. For example, the Overthrow activity. Also, you can get this weapon from The Final Shape campaign. You are given a version of The Call after the 2nd mission Temptation, so it’s nice and early in the game.
Vantage Point (Legendary Shotgun)
Vantage Point is a Legendary Energy Pulse Rifle with an Adaptive Frame meaning it has a well-rounded grip, reliable and sturdy. Origin trait is Dark Ether Reaper where final blows with this weapon periodically spawn Dark Ether charges. Charges can be detonated early with weapons fire or by coming into contact with them. Doing so refills this weapon from reserves.
For PVE Fluted Barrel, Tactical Mag, Keep Away, Jolting Feedback
Keep Away – Increases reload, range, and accuracy when no targets are in close proximity.
Jolting Feedback – Dealing repeated damage with this weapon inflicts Jolt. While amplified, Jolt is applied faster.
To get Vantage Point you can get it to drop from Onslaught Salvation, which is selectable from the Last City menu via the director. You can also get this weapon by progressing the main story in Episode Revenant.
Aberrant Action (Legendary Rocket Sidearm)
Aberrant Action is a Legendary Energy Sidearm with a rocket-assisted frame meaning sidearm fires self-propelled rocket ammunition. Projectiles explode on impact for high damage. The Origin Trait here is Radiolara Transposer. Rapid final blows cause targets to explode into a pool of radiolarian fluid.
For PVE Volatile Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, Beacon Rounds, Incandescent would be good.
- Beacon Rounds – Final blows with this weapon grant your projectiles tracking. Dealing further damage extends the duration.
- Incandescent – Defeating a target spreads scorch to those nearby. More powerful combatants and opposing Guardians cause scorch in a larger radius.
Aberrant Action is a weapon added into Destiny 2 as part of Episode 1 Echoes, that means you can play Breach Executable to get it.
Tinasha’s Mastery (Legendary Rocket Sidearm)
Tinasha’s Mastery is a Legendary Kinetic Sidearm with a Rocket-Assisted Frame meaning sidearm fires self-propelled rocket ammunition. Projectiles explode on impact for high damage. The Origin trait is Skulking Wolf. While at low health, Guardian final blows with this weapon grant enhanced radar and remove you from opposing radar.
Tinasha’s Mastery is going to be a very popular weapon. The rocket-assisted archetype have consistently delivered when it comes to PVE content, and given the focus on Stasis this Episode, then this is going to pair very well with stasis builds across all classes.
For PVE Quick Launch, Tactical Mag, Loose Change, Chill Clip, Masterwork Velocity
Loose Change – Applying an elemental debuff to a target increases this weapon’s reload speed, aim assist, and movement while aiming down sights for a short duration.
Chill Clip – Direct hits with the top half of the magazine cause a detonation that slows nearby targets.
Tinasha’s Mastery is available from Iron Banner as a random drop from the end of Iron Banner matches, as well as the reward track from Lord Saladin in the Tower. Once you unlock the weapon on Saladin’s rewards, you’ll be able to focus the weapon for additional drops.
VS Velocity Baton (Legendary Grenade Launcher)
VS Velocity Baton is a Legendary Energy Grenade Launcher with an Area Denial Frame meaning it has a burst fire Grenade Launcher. Each projectile creates a lingering pool on impact that deals damage over time. Looking at the stats we have Blast Radius 100, Velocity 74, Stability 29, Handling 70, Reload Speed 70, Rounds Per Minute 72, and Magazine 1.
The Origin Trait is Bray Legacy, which means damage with this weapon generates a small amount of ability energy for the one closest to a full charge.
For PVE Quick Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, Demolitionist, Destabilizing Rounds, Masterwork Velocity
Demolitionist – Kills with this weapon generate grenade energy. Activating your grenade ability reloads this weapon from reserves.
Destabilizing Rounds – Final blows cause nearby targets to become volatile.
To get this one you’ll need to play the Vesper’s Host Dungeon. You can get this grenade launcher from the 1st and the 3rd encounter, and once you have it drop for you it’ll drop from the secret chest for additional drops. Dungeons have specific loot tables so you can only get the weapon to drop from the specific encounters described here.
VS Chill Inhibitor (Legendary Grenade Launcher)
VS Chill Inhibitor is a stasis rapid-fire heavy grenade launcher, meaning it has deeper ammo reserves. Slightly faster reload when magazine is empty. The Origin Trait is Bray Legacy. Dealing damage regenerates a small amount of ability energy.
For PVE Quick Launch, Spike Grenades, Envious Arsenal, Bait and Switch would be good.
Envious Arsenal – Dealing damage with both other weapons before readying this weapon refills it from reserves.
Bait and Switch – Deal damage with all equipped weapons within a short time to give this weapon a damage boost.
To get VS Chill Inhibitor you’ll need to run the Vesper’s Host Dungeon, which you can find on Europa. You’ll need a dungeon key for access and you can buy that from the Eververse store. It’s 100% worth it, given you’ll have access to not only VS Chill Inhibitor but also Icebreaker, the iconic Destiny Sniper Rifle too. You can get VS Chill Inhibitor from the first two encounters – Activation and Raneiks Unified.
Graviton Lance (Exotic Pulse Rifle)
This is an Exotic Energy Pulse Rifle that is great for void builds.
Black Hole – Second shot of a burst rips a hole through space-time, doing high damage and recoil with no falloff.
Cosmology – Kills with this weapon cause enemy targets to detonate and spawn Void projectiles that track targets.

Lost Signal (Legendary Grenade Launcher)
Lost Signal is a Legendary Kinetic Grenade Launcher with an Area Denial Frame meaning it’s a burst fire Grenade Launcher. Each projectile creates a lingering pool on impact that deals damage over time. The Origin Trait here is Radiolara Transposer. Rapid final blows cause targets to explode into a pool of radiolarian fluid.
For PVE Volatile Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, Lead from gold and Vorpal Weapon.
Lead from gold – Picking up Heavy ammo also grants ammo to this weapon.
Demolitionist – Kills with this weapon generate grenade energy. Activating your grenade ability reloads this weapon from reserves.
Lost Signal is a weapon added into Destiny 2 as part of Episode 1 Echoes, that means you can play activities part of Echoes to get it. This is also available on the season pass.
